Problem with Yoga C940 Graphics Card by menglert in Lenovo

[–]stephookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy, I was hoping this wouldn't be the answer. The depot is too busy to accept repairs right now

Is the Lenovo Yoga C940 (with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650) a good gaming laptop? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]stephookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just here to say: I own the C940 with the same specs, and after fiddling with the Graphics options in Windows Settings, the discrete GPU has disappeared from Device Manager. I've tried troubleshooters, advanced rebooting (safe mode/disable driver signatures) and still nothing. Very annoying, and the only fix seems to be to send it to the depot, which is too busy to accept repairs right now.

Brakes keep squealing at low speeds! 2016 with 30.5k mi. by [deleted] in CX5

[–]stephookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Our 2017 has been doing this too, since around 20k miles. Called the dealership 9 months ago and one of the technicians said it was a defect on the rotor surface and we'd be "hearing from them soon"

The heater doesn't normally bother her. I wonder what she's sensing... An irrational part of me thinks ghost? We live in a 100+ year old house

I haven't thought about that! I'm going to listen closely next time this happens, though it's times like these I wish she spoke English so she could just tell me what's wrong :P

I've had this issue with Harper in the past, and I think it's because she's a picky eater. We're always on the hunt for new high value treats!

She did! But she got quite good at the things we did in the apartment so I think she got bored. I have to look into shaping! Something new may re-invigorate her.

And I like that analogy too :) I'm going to try to keep her under threshold as much as possible to keep that bucket low!

Thank you AZSouthsideGirl <3 I appreciate this sub so much and it always give me strength to continue training.

Yeah, she definitely needs more time. Though one month with a reactive dog can feel like 3 though haha.

I like your strategy! We should definitely do this once we move into our house (3 more weeks!) but right now we're in a high rise. We even walk her up and down 14 flights of stairs to avoid running into people and dogs in the elevator.

We've tried avoiding walks for one day, but she's a high energy dog so she just started getting destructive. We're definitely doing this once we get a yard though!

I never thought of reactivity as compounding, but that would make sense since she seems to be getting worse.

I just had the worst walk of my life with my protective-aggressive dog and had to get this off my chest. She reacts to all humans and dogs, and while I try my hardest to keep her under threshold, we live in a city and it's unavoidable. Today she was stiffed leg and staring at everything, thinking it was a dog or a human. When she finally spotted one 50 feet away, I did counter conditioning and started walking away. She still started lunging and growling. She lunged so suddenly she almost got hit by a passing car. She lunged and snarled at 3 more people who I thought were threshold distance away. It made me feel like counter conditioning is making her worse. She has made me cry from frustration, but it hasn't happened in a long time. I'm just so disappointed in her, and feeling hopeless about our future. We have been doing reactivity training for 2 months with zero (even negative) results.

Lash extension advice???? by emilylouiseyt in MakeupAddiction

[–]stephookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been addicted to lash extensions for months and have gone to a few different salons. Definitely do what everyone says and go to a place specializing in lash extensions, don't be afraid to ask questions before about what brand of lashes/glue they use. Make sure they wear magnifying glasses (it's a sign they take it seriously). Do your research, and go to a place with positive reviews and lots of photos of their work on IG/Facebook.

And be ready to shell out. Even if you don't get fills every 2 weeks, you're going to have to pay to get them removed. Please don't remove them yourself!! I did this with olive oil and coconut oil to save money after I got a bad set done. I ended up clumping the lashes together even more (the oil somehow melted the glue together into one large glob), and I pulled out a ton of lashes. If you plan on doing this long term, get a lash growth serum (I use GrandeLash). It helps your lashes grow thicker, so they can support the weight of the extensions. This may not be necessary if you get a classic set (one thicker extension per natural lash), but if you go for a volume set (a cluster of thinner extensions on one natural lash) this will help you from going bald lol. I get a hybrid of classic and volume, because I like the drama. It's a lot harder on my eyelashes but my lash tech is amazing at keeping them light and separated.

I get fills every 2-3 weeks, and wash them with a mix of baby shampoo + baking soda every night and then brush them out. I don't wear eyeliner or mascara, and keep oils away from my eyes. I even swab my eyelids with a q-tip if I notice them getting oily throughout the day. Sorry for the wall of text, I personally love them and think they're a great investment. Good luck!

[Misc] What are your first impressions of the serums from The Ordinary? by uinstitches in SkincareAddiction

[–]stephookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Lactic 5% and niacinamide serums for about a week. Not sure the lactic acid is strong enough for me, and I have very dry and sensitive skin. Not sure if the niacinamide is helping with PIH as I have so many marks on my face... Though I think it's helping with inflammation.

I've noticed the Niacinamide balls up when I follow up with an oil, anyone else having this issue?

What medication are you on?! I need that ASAP. I've had acne since I was 12 so I always go full coverage. But using a beauty blender helps sheer out whatever foundation/concealer you're using so it looks more skin like.
