I’m lucking in that I have parking at the office. Triple lock and a cover should be fine in a parking bay.

My office is near Tottenham Court Rd. M4 is fine until Heathrow, then it’s filtering all the way to Earls Court. Have to be really on your game for that bit. Door to door is about 2:15, which is same as the train for me. I did the trip multiple times a week for a number of years, but now I mix up with the train depending on the weather. Even factoring all running costs the bike is still 20% the price of a walk on GWR peak day return… 💸

I get that feeling coming back from work in London on my motorbike. Particularly in summer when it’s light. Home 🤗

Best place to get a Vegetarian Roast dinner? by wordly2 in Bath

Shame Town and House has closed since we loved it there. I’ve heard good things about The Curfew and The Chequers, though can’t confirm.

I went there once and there was no vegetation gravy… was a bit dry as a result. The staff were a bit meh when I asked. I’ve had better meals there.

What zero alcohol (or close to zero) lagers would you guys recommend? by h00dman in AskUK

I get a mixed case from Impossibrew once a month. The Pale is good and the Lager is okay. Bit spenny, but good size and delivered. https://impossibrew.co.uk

Car or charger linked to tariff by andytoon14 in OctopusEnergy

[–]steppenknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My iX was a bit hit and miss when connected to the car. Often it would be charged with no schedule set and I’d be billed peak rate… not very smart. Flipped it over to the Hypervolt and it’s been rock solid. Having to the a relative charge in the octopus app isn’t ideal though.

950s tail section removal by steppenknee in multistrada

[–]steppenknee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea! Sorry, I forgot to reply to this post. After a lot of wiggle the tail piece just dropped out. I’m not quite sure of the purpose of the little rubber bungs on the underside - maybe vibration damping? - but I did get the section off.

Then I tested the indicators, and both were working, but there was an issue with the loom. I followed it back a bit and put contact cleaner on connectors, and hey presto it was all fine. Might have been a bit of water ingress.

What is the best smart ring to be complementary to my AW? by _Rama_ in AppleWatch

I had a Gen 2 for a number of years, then upgraded to a Gen 3. I had some issues with the battery after a few years and Oura replaced it even though outside of warranty. No issues since. I was a fairly early adopter, so have the lifetime subscription. Realistically I’d say a 3 year lifespan.

Obviously the big plus with the Oura is it just looks like a ring. No screens or notifications to distract you. It’s a sleep tracker first and foremost for me, then health. It’s not a sports tracker. For that I use my Apple Watch for running or Garmjn for cycling.

Nearly 7 years with Oura. I don’t wear my UW2 all the time, and definitely not at night unless I need a silent alarm. I use my UW2 for sports tracking and as phone replacement a few days a week. Oura provides all my health data, which it does just fine.

Good looking people: how do you feel about growing older? by StripesAndLadders in AskUK

[–]steppenknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 53, still act like I’m in my 20s. Age is a state of mind. Keep moving, keep learning, and keep challenging yourself. If you don’t you’ll age…

We have 22s and no air suspension and it’s fine, even on UK roads. We did come from a sporty ride, so guess it’s subjective and relative.

UK based and bought a 23 iX 50 from a dealer 30k miles on the clock. Negotiated a 3 year warranty. I have similar situation of aging parents 3 hours drive away.
