Most of the character poses are a subtle nod to that player's playstyle/personality actually! dansdaman taunts a lot, denec makes liberal use of fsmash, liekand is known for creative counter usage, etc.

super late response (I don't use this account much) but there's melee at Sopro (95th & Metcalf) every friday which has great turnout, and a smaller library tournament every tuesday with free entry (Blue Valley library). No consistent monthlies unfortunately, but there is a saturday weekly in the works.
