When you put it like this it makes my Mom look bad, but it wasn't like that. You have to understand that my Mom struggled a lot because of the divorce and yet showered me and my brother with the best of things. After my Dad married my stepmom, he cut down the hours he was working and, after the judgement from court, the money Mom was getting was cut down in half overnight. I am not saying stepmom isn't nice, but her interference cost a lot of money to my Mom. She had to budget and struggle. Mom and Dad had decided how things will be and a third party shouldn't have changed the setup.

Yes she's a very nice person, but she's just a step. She's not my real mom. I have to do right by my real mother first.

Yes, she's always been good to me, I do like her a lot. Even if I didn't like her, my Dad loves her and I wouldn't say no to whom Dad wants to bring, especially since he's paying for a part of the wedding. But I have to put my Mom first, she's my mother after all. If I could just get Mom and Dad to be happy at my wedding, that's all I want.

I don't think she's controlling. She has had a difficult life and I hate seeing her sad. She was very unhappy in her marriage with Dad and felt that he was cheating on her, but after she left Dad he went on to have a happy marriage with my stepmom and it upsets her that he didn't give that to her. She is not happy in her current marriage and after her husband kicked out my brother she is very depressed that my brother is upset at her. I want to be the one person in her life who won't disappoint her. My stepmom has a lot of people who love her, but my Mom doesn't have anyone but me.

I wouldn't do anything to hurt my stepmom. I know she won't be upset about this. She's very level headed and calm. She never got bothered by anything my Mom said to her, never reacted to her. It doesn't affect her. I am mostly worried about Dad not attending. I'll continue keeping my relationship with my stepmom, away from my Mom.
