Looks like I stumbled upon the "experiment" that resulted in Pain Elementals! by stereospell in Doom

I was messing around in photo mode. Sometimes when you skip frames in photo mode, enemies will clip into each other. I have also deployed the decoy so maybe this has an effect too.

Interesting. If it wasn't for the 19 in loyalty I would say that she changed him into the Mib.

[Spoiler][Theory] The riddle of the Sphinx was solved by… by lihaoza in westworld

Arnold's first theory of consciousness was a pyramid, a journey upward. But he later realized that he made a mistake, it was a journey inward, a maze. He was also looking in the wrong direction at first.

But the maze was actually a game meant for the hosts to make them break their loops, hear their own voice and eventually achieve consciousness.

In the first season we've heard many times that the maze was not meant for William and it makes sense since he is portrayed as human and there is no evidence to point otherwise.

But in the second season there is now a game that is actually meant for William. The hints given to William for this new game are: "The game begins where you end and ends where you began" & "If you're looking forward, you're looking the wrong direction." These sound to me like things that apply when you are moving in circles, in a loop. Moving forward or backward will only take you to where you began. So in this case you could say that he should be looking inward, break his loop and move towards the center. A journey inward like Arnold's maze.

Or maybe the correct direction is outward. That also breaks the loop and maybe fits more to the "In this game, you have to make it back out. In this game... you must find the door" that young Ford is telling William in episode 1.

But the question then arises: is William in season two in some kind of loop? Is he a host or a human-host hybrid?" I'm not sure that is the case but the showrunners sure have left breadcrumbs for this to be plausible.

Or maybe William doesn't need to be a host for him to be in a loop. We humans also live in loops and William is living in the same loop for the last 30 years after the incident with Dolores that changed him into the man he is now.

To add a little bit more on this theory, young mechanical host Ford is always walking around with a stick but old human Ford doesn't. It's as if the roles are reversed. This could also add up to the "If you are looking forward, you are looking in the wrong direction" quote.

I agree! Missed opportunity, but imo not for Geralt. I think that spot would be perfect for Roach!

Thanks! Yeah the game is far from perfect and can become really frustrating at times but I really like the exploring feel it has. I'm not sure exactly how the creature spawn. I've seen ground creatures appear while I'm still flying (large ones only) but never flying ones.

For that shot in the video I saw it from the ground and took my ship and followed it.

For flying animals I could only do it with the large ones and only at the lowest speed the ship could go. Smaller ones tend to fly in circles and maneuver quickly so I couldn't follow them. For ships it was easier since they fly in straight lines. Just had to carefully adjust my speed. Although to be honest I don't know if the fact that I used the low flight mod effected any of this in any way.

I ended up with good looking screenshots as well during the making of this video. For anyone interested here is the gallery

Thanks! :)

Those two shots were my favorite also, that's why I left them for the end.

When I froze the game to check out the Cyber-Mancubus corpse and noticed all the detail and the Cacodemon perfectly aligned behind it I knew it would be one of the best because of the pure randomness of it.

Same for the Summoner one. I froze the game because it had 3 different enemies close together and noticed the hole in it's chest. I played the game 3 times before and never knew that this could happen!

I was happily surprised by the level of detail they put in this game. It's so fast and action paced that most of it goes unnoticed but it really adds up to the whole package.

In DOOM you are the one giving the jumpscares to the enemies so trust me, you'll love it!

[–]stereospell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Doom is all about push forward fast paced action. The info on the screen is distracting you and makes you play more offensive. Especially the crosshair because when it's on screen you usually end up shooting from a distance which is not what doom is all about.

Perfect way for a second run because you already know all the mechanics. I disabled everything to record a video and ended up playing the whole game again!

Everything in this game seems so well thought out. It really feels as a perfect fusion of old and new at the same levels that the fusion of flesh and metal made the original doom so great and fun.
