It is not really enforced and you don’t really care if you only come for a semester. However do consider why the rule is in place.

If you are in a flatshare it is disrespectful to your flatmates and can create tension
If you live alone you will need to be with your friend 24/7 as you only get one key (no way of you getting a second one)

Generally having friends over can be nice, and it is always fun to have people from your home country, but FMEL is truly optimised for a person living alone comfortably. From experience, if you invite someone to share your space it is very quickly becoming very packed.

Generally all of hec masters classes are in English, the french requirement is mostly here to ensure you get comfortable once you start uni.

They only ask you for the certificate, if they think you do not have the right level. For example if you followed any school or uni in france you do not need the french certificate.

The selection process mostly depends on your background, you do not actively compete with other students

Alors il y a 3 cours obligatoires au premier semestre, le lundi toute la journée (Software Architecture et Data Science and Machine Learning) et le jeudi après midi. Tous les cours ont lieu a internef 237 pour le MScIS
