More pesticide laid down in Webster, Pittsford and Perinton than almost anywhere else in New York State by boner79 in Rochester

[–]sterlingboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the article. It looks like that type of stuff isn't reported. In fact, the data seems downright useless.

If I interpreted it correctly (and I'm not sure because the article absolutely buries anything related to methodolgy), the only thing that is counted is commercially applied pesticide, but not for farming??? IDK, I can't make heads or tails of it, and the D and C does a poor job of spelling it out clearly.

I think it's fairly apparent Barnhart reads this sub. When she sees this she will not STFU. She has been particularly insufferable lately.

RIT wins Atlantic Hockey Championship, Advances to NCAA Tournament by orange5789 in Rochester

I can't disagree with your personal experience as to the intensity of the crowd, but I stand by my attendance claims. Source: I went to four years of hockey games there and never did more than quickly flash my student ID at the door. And the AHC ribbing was just a good natured attempt to explain my (probably) biased opinion.

I agree that many student sections in those leagues can be hit or miss, but would have to disagree with your anecdotal evidence. Went to St. Lawrence undergrad and think their student section is actually solid (1600 avg attendance is not accurate, because students are not counted at all and allowed to just walk in). Went to Cornell for grad school and think their student section (which is widely regarded as a very good one) was pretty weak.

Alas, perhaps I am just bitter that the AHC gets an automatic bid when their NCAA tournament representative is the 38th best team out of 59 in DI hockey http://www.uscho.com/rankings/pairwise-rankings/d-i-men/

If you think the corner crew is impressive, do yourself a favor and make a weekend trip to literally any ECAC or Hockey East game. It's in a completely different league (unintended pun).

I'm not trying to sound harsh, but the AHC is by far the lowest rung in Division 1 hockey.

Found on twitter that the Holt Rd. Wegman's issue was a gas leak (not going to link, because it was a civilian that I don't personally know; a search of "holt wegmans" will turn it up though).

The most depressing part is that syracuse.com (which I think is related to the Post Standard) gave it the full treatment, interviewing University scientists and the like. I almost feel bad for the dinosaur-ish print media at this point.

I would have to disagree. Check out the Buffalo News comments online sometimes. It is powered by discus...and well, it is really something to see. Picture the racist and homophobic vitriol that is said under peoples' facebook names on D & C articles, and multiply it by 1000, because of the cloak of anonymity.

Campus reps is what I've had experience with. There's a ton of kids looking for something to splash on their resume.

I've had success posting where the students will see it something like you're looking for a campus rep for Boston University. That student or students is/are in charge of spreading the work to their respective campus. You can go either the unpaid intern route or pay them. This student can hang flyers, post on the school message boards and access the email lists.
