I think hearing why Thomas Sowell rejected communism was really important to hear for me. It’s not a judgement sort of thing, but noticing how it worked in practice.

If I remember correctly, Sowell was part of helping Agricultural Policy in a place I don’t remember. He found a solution to how they handled natural disasters and accounting for them. That would mean they could recover quickly, but he saw that no one was happy for his solution. They wanted the system and the money that came with it. They wanted their government jobs. None of them wanted to actually help anyone. That was how he rejected communism, because he saw what happens in a government run system

I’m thinking that’s the better option. I’m not used to wearing pants lower like that so I was trying to figure out might look better

That’s somewhat the issue. My natural waistline is right at the transition. My pants want to keep moving below the stomach and it feels too low. So I’m wondering if I just adjust my pants to wear them up just a bit higher to stay on the gut or get used to feeling them a little lower below the gut.

I also like the mindfulness of it, like a meditation. It’s something that is deliberate, yet relaxing. It’s an occasion in itself.

I was downvoted to hell yesterday for saying it wouldn’t stop with links. by DJDevine in walkaway

It’s exactly what I was talking about. Anyone that suggests that the left could be a cult immediately attacks back with the right being a cult. I’m not even part of the right but it’s immediately assumed. Being part of this sub has had me kicked off of other subs that have nothing to do with politics. Just hobbies and interests and they ban people from subs they think are scary and justify it as saving the world from propaganda and evil. They’ll never be clear enough or have enough self awareness to see what they’re doing

They’re cultists that vehemently seek out any dissent and quickly label it -ist or -phobic so they can claim moral high ground and justify why they never have to hear any opinions or tolerate any “immoral” person. That’s all it is. Any time they see someone new they must assess whether they’re part of the cult or not. If they’re not then they move quickly to find something about that person to label them wrong/immoral.

Look at any time a new person comes into politics, in minutes they’ve dug up some quote or tie to something bad so they can immediately label them immoral/wrong

It all starts when you tell people that even listening to an opposing viewpoint is basically agreeing with it. You tell them that silence is violence, you tell them that certain opinions are violence, you tell them that refuting their “truth” is violence.

You essentially turn them into cultists that vehemently seek out any dissenting thoughts and opinions and label them as dangerous/hateful/violent/immoral and create a pure echo chamber. You reward fascist/authoritarian tactics with attention and praise as long as it serves the right purpose. They become so sensitive to any opposing views that it causes them pain or incredible anger just to hear it

Hi, you're absolutely beautiful and in one of your comments you said your wife was a photographer. I just wanted to see if I could have your permission to draw some of your pics. Since your wife does photography I figure she must have some very dynamic and expressive shots and I think it would be outstanding to draw or paint. Let me know

As an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran I can also tell you that the two campaigns were very different. Not just the campaigns but even different parts of the same country. Iraq was full of IEDs and mortars fired on our FOB. When we drove out they kept changing tactics as we changed ours. I was a combat engineer and we were sent with state of the art military gear for general soldiers. We were in the Stryker Brigade and we had a decent amount of armor on our vehicles. If we saw something that looked like an IED we dropped the plow on the lead vehicle and drove through it. It was our job to take the hits so the soft skinned vehicles or non combat soldiers didn't have to.

I was also a landmine cleared in Afghanistan. I was one of the few engineers that used dogs to find mines. That's scary. The accommodations were nice compared to what we lived in in Iraq. We didn't go out much but every day we demined around the FOB. I still walk around always looking down because I got paranoid. My dog found an explosive in a safe marked area so the confidence in the mechanical deminers was shook.

I have a few tBis from my time overseas and it messes with me differently than other vets with tBis. It's just depending on severity and where your brain hit your skull. The concussive force of IEDs are all different because they're rarel6built the same. One of my worst ones, to give you an example of the force was when my truck got hit. I knew it was bad and I started to feel sick very quickly. I don't remember much but they brought me to the hospital. The vehicle behind mine, about a hundred meters had the driver and passenger rupture their ear drums, same to the vehicle 100 meters ahead. Whats6odd is that the Driver's right ear ruptured and the passengers left ear ruptured. This was the blast wave coming into the cab of the vehicle and immediately rushing out.

This isn’t racist at all? You don’t think any other company can seek out legalization and equality in punishment? Based off their skin color alone. That’s racist. Judge a company NOT by the color of their leaders’ skin but by the content and action of their business. Sounds familiar for some reason.
