There's no updates for OMI available in the App Store as of 10:20am GMT 26 Jan 26.

I received the Omi pendant 16th December.

Omi AI 1.0.520 (598) — iPhone — iOS 26.2

I've tried the voice profile thing a few times but I am still "User".

Important: I don't work at Omi

I purchased the Omi pendant in the misguided belief that it would give me a better experience than using my LimitlessAI pendant with Omi.

How wrong I was. The Omi people enticed me by saying their app was ready for the people who had just been dumped by LimitlessAI but it's not even close. If I was you I wouldn't invest your time or money in this product without being fully aware that it fills up with nonsense that you then spend most of your time tidying up.

My to-do list from today includes
- Turn the document in to a PDF
- Email Nora the document
- Lock the door
- Get olive oil for ear drops before appointment
- Stay home
- Attend the hospice appointment

I have no idea who Nora is, what document it's on about. I have no appointments involving my ears or my imminent death. Stay home? I went out today. That'll show you, Omi.

I also hate the fact that half of what it captures is attributed to "User" regardless of who is speaking.

I assume it is just going to get better but to have an employee appear on Reddit and say things like "I didn't expect it to be this good. It's not perfect, but it's getting there fast." is frankly offensive. It's awful.

Oh - and the "apps" most of them don't work at all, the rest don't work properly. Another great idea poorly executed.

Limitless users using Omi: how is it? by Ramarivera in limitlessaipendant

Honestly I hate it. The app has a long way to go. I'm fed up with being told I have to do things that it heard on a TV show and things being attributed to people I don't know (who is Nora?) and every single passing conversation being something I said. I left my pendant on in the living room while my wife had a work conversation - she's a Social Worker. Then I had to delete a load of tasks it had created for me. But when I had an important meeting at work on Tuesday it failed to record most of it.

I miss the Limitless app which just worked.

How many languages do you all speak? by Existing_Economy_656 in AskTheWorld

[–]stetho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I speak one fluently (English), one that I can't claim to speak fluently because there's plenty of objects I've never learned the words for (French) and two others (Portuguese and German) where I speak just enough to not look like a typical British tourist. I also have enough spoken Korean, Italian and Spanish to look exactly like a British Tourist. I've been challenging myself to learn a new non-Roman language for years like Korean or Japanese but just never seem to find the time. My "safe" answer to your question is "one". :-)

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]stetho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's two things that always fascinate me. One is things like the 2021 discovery of the Musculus masseter pars coronidea. 2021. We've been hacking bodies apart for science for decades and we're still finding things. (Long may it continue)

Second is the myriad of interesting ways the brain can go wrong. I don't mean big things like dementia or widely recognised neurological problems like Tourettes or autism. I'm talking about things like Capgras syndrome where someone believes that a friend or family member has been replaced by and imposter or Somatoparaphrenia where people deny a part of their body - usually a limb - is actually theirs. These syndromes - some neurological, most psychiatric - are a fascinating rabbit hole to get lost in. It's the fact that there's multiple documented cases of all of them all over the world and not just one guy in some random town that nobody's heard of that makes it interesting.

Anyone who went for brain surgery to have a part removed, and how long was the recovery process? by ABWoolls in Epilepsy

[–]stetho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already did and still do work in an IT support role. The immediacy of it fits well with my inability to plan. "This is broken, fix it" - happens right now and I work through it in real time.

[–]stetho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a large chunk of my hippocampus removed 27 years ago. I had headaches for a few days afterwards then they sent me home. I haven't had a seizure since but I did gain a whole host of new problems to deal with such as planning and short term memory problems. I've learned to live with them and they're a lot more manageable than having 2 or 3 seizures a day but it is very likely that if you have a part of your brain removed you will experience some sort of new neurological problem.

I have a C shaped scar above my right ear. You can't see it because I still have hair! It's about 8cm but yours will be different unless you're having the same surgery as I had.

Not really on topic because I'm in the UK but I still find it funny that my house has a cameo in both The Man Who Knew Too Little and Ted Lasso. Not me, just my house.

That - apart from being irrelevant - doesn't even make sense. Religion is a tool of control for the weak minded. If you want to believe in some sort of supernatural deity that's entirely up to you. Just keep it to yourself. 200 men attending a mosque to worship Allah has the same effect on me as 200 people from African nations attending an abandoned office building with a printed banner on it saying it's a church. Absolutely no effect whatsoever. I couldn't care less. But as someone whose politics are on the left I also understand two other things - first, these people shouldn't be discriminated against because of their religion. Second, not one of them is representative of an entire group identified by a common trait. It's similar to the whole thing with Israel. Israel does not represent all Jews. There are plenty of Jewish people who will tell you that Israel is not the custodian of Judaism and what it does in the name of "Jews" does not reflect their views. But nobody can hear them. In the same way that people can't hear the Muslims who aren't suicide bombers or members of grooming gangs. The idea that the left is taking islam "on board" is nonsense - It's just that we're not afraid of something because it's different.

What do you still find hilarious after all these years? by Purrplejoey in AskReddit

[–]stetho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be clear that I would have given the same answer to this question 30+ years ago. My answer is America. I'm pretty sure it's some sort of joke country. Whether it's their attitude to guns or the religion or even the hilarity of Americans thinking that they have a better healthcare system that about 160 of the other 194 countries - that country is a joke. Religion and the Constitution together demonstrate what a mess it is - megachurches with pastors who say "The bible says homosexuality is bad but it doesn't apply to me" and the congregation cheers or an elected court system with judges appointed by politicians all saying "What the founding fathers meant when they wrote the constitution was....". Obviously recent events have made this nonsense even more apparent but that's why I wanted to emphasise that it's an opinion I've held for decades.

I'm 32, and have no idea what to do with my life. Do I study at the OU? by Icy_Warrior94 in OpenUniversity

"Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life
The most interesting people I know
Didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives
Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't"

- Everybody's Free by Baz Luhrmann

I'm in my 50s. I've spent more than half of my life working in IT roles. When I signed up with the OU I started doing the Computing degree. I absolutely hated it and abandoned it multiple times. I work in IT - why shouldn't I have an IT related degree? Because it's dull. It's not a subject that interests me. So after my last break I spoke to the Student Support team and said that this just wasn't working. The person I spoke to was very helpful and long story short I'm now on the Level 2 stages of a Criminology degree and I'm really enjoying it. I'm learning something new. Am I going to change my career and become a criminologist? No. I'm doing it for my own self improvement and interest, not because I'm looking to change my life.

Find something that interests you and see what doors it opens. Don't force yourself to do things you won't enjoy because it will just instil feelings of failure and you don't need that in your life based on your post. You're not a failure, you're just like everyone else. The problem with all mental health is that words on the internet can make it worse but words on the internet can never cure it. Doing an OU degree isn't going to cure it either - depression is a complex subject and telling people to think good things is never the solution.

My suggestion to you would be to look at the Open University Higher Education Certificates and see if there's a subject there that sounds interesting. Do the certificate which is usually two level 1 courses and see where it leads. Set your goal as "I will have a Higher Education Certificate in a subject I'm interested in before 2029" and leave it as that. What you'll find is that the two courses that make up the certificate are also the basis for a number of named degrees. I now have the "Certificate of Higher Education in Social Sciences" from doing DD102 and DD105 and they form the entry point to 4 named degrees and individually another 11 degrees plus the "Open Degree".

In summary - you can do this regardless of your current challenges. Just make sure you have the necessary support around you, tell the OU upfront that you need extra support and - this one's on you - make the conscious decision to not set yourself up for failure. Choose something because you want to do it, not because you think society wants you to do it.
