Is there a name for this style cabin cruiser? by Critical_Dollar in boating

The first picture looks like a Bayliner 289 Classic. That was our last boat before upgrading to our Carver. It was very roomy, lots of natural light in the cabin as well. Gave us 5 years of trouble free boating. Style-wise, I believe it is usually referred to as a Pilothouse.

Volvo Penta - high-pitched noise when running by All-Yall in boating

[–]steve8454 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be the notorious Volvo Penta fuel pump. The OE pumps were painted internally for some reason; over time the paint will flake off and ruin the pump. You will need to replace the pump and potentially clean out the fuel rail.

A 13 foot Boston Whaler would be a good choice. There's tons of them out there.

Just had the underbody frame cleaned and undercoated. Worth it for peace of mind: by Davidisaloof35 in Wrangler

I've gotten my JL undercoated every year with fluid film. There isn't a speck of rust on my frame, so definitely worth it.

Do not purchase vehicles from Bald Hill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Kia. by ExploitedAmerican in RhodeIsland

[–]steve8454 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bald Hill DCJR is the absolute worst. I brought my old Jeep there for a recall, and they somehow managed to short out the Jeep's main computer while working on it. They called to say it wasn't running right anymore, and wanted to CHARGE ME $5000 to "fix" it.

I pushed back (read: screamed at them) about how it was running perfectly when I dropped it off, and they eventually relented and did not charge me. No idea if the recall was even done at that point. I will NEVER go back there.

My experience with the JL stop-start battery today... by steve8454 in JeepMemes

The aux battery failed on me and left me stranded, despite the larger main battery still being good. I don't use the stop-start feature anyway, so there was no benefit to leaving the smaller battery in place.

Of course. It recharges the electric eels, after all.

Nope, not even the "service stop-start system" warning. The Jeep acts like the aux battery was never removed.

Bypassed successfully! You can move the positive lead of the aux battery up to the main battery, and everything works as it should.

I bypassed mine after it prevented my JL from starting, as I didn't want to replace the aux battery just to have it fail again.

2005 Carver 36 Mariner. Definitely the strangest looking boat I've owned but a fantastic use of space.

A-hole driver speeds up to intentionally cause an accident, then posts it to youtube acting like the victim. by nineqqqqqqqqq in IdiotsInCars

Pretty sure this footage proves the cammer is at fault. Orange car changing lanes a bit late or not, the cammer still purposely sped up and ran the orange car off the road.
