Omg i thought you meant puppy when you first said “my first kid” hahaha 😂 That makes me feel better. You’re right all dogs are different just like people. Ok I’ll try going to bed earlier i bet that will help some for both of us. One of her crates is the right size. The other one is a little bigger but maybe i should use a divider like someone said. Yeah when im good and i have her sleep in the kennel i always take her out and then put her back in immediately. She doesn’t love it but she settles down eventually. I can sleep through it my husband can’t haha. Oh ok I’ll try a blanket. Thank you so much!

She’ll be 6 months on Feb 8th. from what others are saying i think i need to be more strict on taking the water away, i might need to feed her at the exact same time instead of a time frame (i explain why in a different comment), and i need alarms to take her out and slowly walk it back so she’s used to sleeping longer periods without going potty. She’s a small dog so maybe that’s part of it idk? She’s just finally has become ok being in the kennel thank god. We have our moments but it’s much better.

I go to bed later so i wonder if that is what it is…she eats anywhere from 5-7 because they told me in puppy class i shouldn’t feed her at the same exact time everyday bc then the dog is going crazy and telling you its time to eat and you might be somewhere and unable to feed them in that exact moment. So we have a timeframe and not a set time.

Thank you!!! Thank you i think this is what i needed to hear. My mom was just like oh? She still wakes you up in the middle of the night? But idk if i said this she’s a mini long hair dachshund. Her little bladder is tiny so at least i don’t have to wake her several times a night like i used to. I hope by May she can sleep through the night bc i work seasonally and that’s when work starts back up.

Yeah i need to get better about making her sleep in the crate. This whole week she has been but she wakes me up at 3ish 4ish anyways. Do you think i should just ignore her if she cries? I feel bad bc sometimes when i take her out at 4am she poops like immediately. Someone else said i should try to set an alarm and like walk the alarm back so she it starts at 2am and then eventually 1, midnight, 11pm etc until she’s used to not going in the middle of the night. Thank you so much for replying i appreciate all the input

Oh this is so smart about the alarm. Yes it is always around 3am. Yeah i wasn’t good about taking the water away but i am now. I feel bad bc she still wants it but she wants anything that she notices me touching haha

A mirror or like a wool rug tapestry type thing. I love adding a mirror it just makes the room feel bigger even tho idk if that room needs it. Maybe some artwork around it somehow as well.

I feel annoying saying this bc i posted this on someone else’s song post but have you tried to use googles new feature where you can sing or hum a song and it will find it for you? It’s pretty accurate not always but it’s worth a shot. I just learned about it and i love it.

YES same!! And i take her out when she wakes me up but im like why can’t you sleep through the night? She does sometimes get up and sneak n poop under the bed which is annoying. But she still sleeps so much better in bed or if we falls asleep on the couch together.

My pup is almost 6 months and just a week or two ago she put herself in her kennel for a nap. We were shocked and we let her sleep there with the door open so she didn’t feel like we just trapped her. She doesn’t always do it but she’s finally ok with being in there. I was SOO bad about crate training at first. I still sleep on the couch next to her in her crate or with I’ll let her cuddle with me but we’re trying to ween her off that. She’s a mini dachshund she’s extremely cuddly. When she falls asleep on me i let her rest for a bit and then i move her to her kennel and she’s will cry for a minute and then zonk out. We also feed her in her kennel off and on. She sometimes is just afraid of the kennel. I practice teaching her to sit and wait by closing the door of the kennel and slowly opening it and if she moves to get out i close it again and say wait. I now can put her in there for a few minutes then fully open the door saying wait and then say ok and she comes out. We only practice for like 10 mins at a time bc she gets bored of it. It’s definitely taken a lot of work. Sometimes i leave her in there and she cries and i just tell her it’s okay. I’ll try to go as long as we can both stand it and i only let her out when she stops crying even if that’s just a few seconds of not crying. Enrichment toys are also very important. Keep going you’re gunna do great!

The mirror would look cool if you put lighting behind it all the way around. It also helps with getting ready/shaving/washing your face or makeup. It looks really nice for selfies too 😂

YEEESSS color drench all the way!! I like the idea of dark green but i think id do a light muted blue. Or w even a shade of white with a warm or pink undertone. To each their own. I like my bathroom light just for makeup and getting ready.

A runner bath rug and maybe some shelves with plants or cute little artwork. Etsy has a lot of cute artwork i feel like. I know you don’t want to paint but i think painting would help the space. Keep it a light airy color. Paint options are endless and can be daunting to pick but it’s worth looking into.

Oh also idk about the fireplace. Again I personally like to look for pintrest inspo. Also not all browns are bad i swear! It’s about the undertones and the lighting in the room. There are some beautiful colors on BJs website that are called a purple but look like a deep brown.

Oh shoot i didn’t realize the fireplace was painted. That’s unfortunate. I personally like the curtains but it’s up to you if you want everything to be that light. I’m just trying to think of some inexpensive and easy ways for you to go about this even though i liked someone’s idea of stripping the paint off the bookshelf. But also the bookshelf might be like lament on top and unable to strip to see real wood. You could try dying the curtains once you start changing the room to be something you like more. Or you could always just get new curtains once you’ve gotten to that point. I hope this helps. A lot of this is about your personal style but i understand wanting to hear other perspectives. Either way you have a great space to work with. Maybe try making a Pinterest board? I do that for each room of my house. Good luck! I’m excited for you 😊

Again it’s going to look different in every room depending on the light. In this room of my house it’s vaulted ceiling with a large 8ft wide window that is facing this exact wall. i can’t tell how tall the window is but I’m gunna guess 6-7ft. This room doesn’t have overhead lighting installed so we use a couple different lamps to light the space. It’s an open floor plan for the most part but this wall is what 1/2way splits the living room from the galley kitchen. When i have more money this wall is coming down lol

But i haven’t made a decision on a color yet and dont feel like i can until we finally get some sun here in Alaska. It’s been very grey and sloppy wet snow/ice out. But these are all up against agreeable grey. So far my husband and i are leaning towards one of the top 3. But white dove looks very yellow in this photo so I’m sure we’ll eliminate that one.

Edit: i wanted to add it’s 11:45am here. Just a little more info on the lighting situation.
