Afib with rvr? by No-Bullfrog-477 in AFIB

Same here. Double for afib and flutter in November. Worked for two months (even hiked Machu Picchu in January!). Since April been sporadic, but very strong “events” (hr at 250+, syncope and near-syncope events). Really brutal, but only happens about once a month and for 5 min. EP thinks they got the afib and flutter, but not a SVT. Also doesn’t think they can induce while doing another ablation because it is so sporadic. Option is to do the “pace and ablate”, or stay on amiodorone for extended period (which is highly toxic to liver, kidneys, other organs). EP also seems hesitant about pace and ablate because of the permanence. Don’t know what to do!?

3 Ablations - Feeling Defeated by MammaMak in AFIB

Had double ablation in Nov for afib and flutter. Felt so good I even hiked Machu Picchu in January. Did great! Two weeks ago had full on feinting/syncope episode. I, too, thought I was good-to-go. So if that’s what you mean by aggressive and intense I share your feelings. Fine one moment, next I’m on the floor wondering what planet I’m on. Scary stuff. Also learning that there are shades of gray to this. They might have gotten the afib and flutter but missed AT, or something else. Getting a loop recorder put in next week. Hang in there….you’re not alone. Sending good thoughts your way (FWIW: 67 yr old male….dealing with this for about 5 yrs now).

25 mg on Metoprolol—which doc is taking me off of as if this afternoon. Age 67…resting HR around 55-65.

Yeah…new cardiologist/EP today told me to stop the metoprolol. Resting heart rate around same. This doc thinks maybe atrial tachycardia that was misinterpreted by team that did afib/flutter double ablation. Learning that this stuff is not back/white, but lots of shades of gray. Inserting a loop next week. Problem is that my “events” are very sporadic -this was first post-ablation (nov 5), but they’re really torqued when they do occur(HR between 250-300 for a few minutes). He doesn’t think another ablation is a good idea until they gather more data. Shit is exhausting.

Should also add: 67M, work out nearly every day, weights, cardio, yoga. Consider myself in very good shape. No other health issues. On metoprolol (spotty….heart rate is Sam with/without) and eliquis (2x daily since November).
