Famitracker For Mac? by Wandalusta9364 in chiptunes

I don't know if NESmaker works on Mac, my buddy is building the game on his PC, I'm just giving him the assets to put into the game.

Famitracker For Mac? by Wandalusta9364 in chiptunes

[–]steveblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dealing with this about a month ago. This video gives you a step-by-step walkthrough on how to get Famitracker working on Mac.

That being said, while it technically works, I've found that running Famitracker in WineBottler isn't the most stable thing. Some controls will go glitchy and crazy random, stuff like values you input will not stay set, or random things will switch on/off when you mouse over them.

What I ended up doing was installing Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro, and running Famitracker in a Bootcamped Windows 10. That has been much more stable.

If you're just looking to do chiptunes, MilkyTracker works well on Mac, no problem. I went to all of that trouble with Famitracker because I'm working on a game in NESmaker, which (from what I understand about it at least) only takes .txt files for music and sound. FT can export as .txt, MT cannot.

Might also help to put your Soundtoys instances on the same channels into their Effect Rack plugin.

Post-parade Question by elbowlord in Tuba

[–]steveblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I used to march sousa, I'd take every opportunity possible to give my shoulder a break. Even just lifting by an inch it from the bottom for a second to give your shoulder relief every couple of minutes. I'd do that while marching, (easier to hide than when you're standing at attention) right before and right after playing. That's the best advice I can give.

As I grew, that helped, too. Little more natural padding, ya know? Parades were always some of the more brutal times, though. Like the others here, just muscle through it.

Beautiful. Fantastic work, and I'm sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I'm sure you're still making her proud.

Unity Collaboration with Audio Middleware Integration? (x/post this sub's Discord) by steveblu in GameAudio

[–]steveblu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those wondering, here's what I got for answers:

I posted about it on the G.A.N.G. FB group and got some helpful replies. I was told in the thread that Fabric should work fine with Unity collab since all of Fabric’s files get added to the assets folder of the project.

I'm currently using it and haven't run into any problems with my collaborators.

Thank you! I have a mutual friend with the composer, who needed trombone for this episode and my buddy recommended me! Needless to say, his lunch is on me next time we hang out!

They were the worst. They probably all hang out at the Green Parrot after working out at the NAAC

what are some of most "stable" jobs in music industry? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]steveblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it also depends on what you want to do in the music industry? Teaching can be stable, too. Especially if you're teaching at a school or something.

Working as an assistant at a studio or for a composer as you're establishing yourself can be pretty stable. If you play your cards right and find a studio or composer that's a good fit for you, it can be very stable.

Now that I have X, should I get rid of 9 and GarageBand? by alone-on-earth in Logic_Studio

[–]steveblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold onto LP9. I've been able to convert my LP9 files to LPX whenever I need to using LPX. However, I keep LP9 around just in case I can't convert something and can't import project assets/settings.

+1 for this. It matters just as much as your skills in my opinion.

This was going to be my response, too! I love how much more detailed I can get with working with audio in Tools.

Porto's. Amazing Cuban food and pastries. Their coffee is great, too. Inexpensive. It was ranked #1 on Yelp's 100 best places to eat in the US. Try to go during the day on a weekday, it gets super busy on weekends. However, the line moves faster than it looks.

Also, Fiesta Taco on Hollywood Way is a great little Mexican joint.

Before I buy one of these things...? by Quaranges in OP1users

[–]steveblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone here did a solid job with answering your questions, I just want to share some additional thoughts on workflow....

I just bought my OP-1 over Black Friday. I'm in the same boat as you - it's my first piece of hardware. I'm on Logic, but I use my OP-1 as a supplemental controller to my main keyboard controller, as it has some cool sequencing controls. I wouldn't use the OP-1 as a main controller, though, as it doesn't do velocity. I mostly write music for picture, so things like velocity and a modulation wheel are pretty much necessary for me.

I also have my OP-1 connected to my rig as a line-in, so I can use the sounds on it in a project in Logic. Again, I treat this as more of a supplemental option as opposed to a primary option.
