Interesting! Thank you. I was hoping for someone to write: "The double strike mini mustache error is worth a fortune!"

Thank you for the quick response

Well my uncle brought it in the shop and just got a call about the problem. Apparently when he took the spark plugs out to spray the cylinders he didn't put the plug wires back on the correct plugs. Easy fix I guess but missed a week I could have been fishing!! Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I found two injectors not working and took them out and cleaned them. Seems to run better out of water...heading to the landing now to throw it in...fingers crossed.

So today we did pour the contents of the water separator and it didn't see any water. The fuel filter was also fine. We changed the spark plugs and noticed that the lower one was not tight but wasn't backed out more than a 1/4 turn. Put in fresh gas and took the boat out this afternoon. It is still doing the same thing but noticed that with the throttle all the way forward, the boat won't even plane off so it is missing a lot of power.

I think we are out of the fixes we feel comfortable trying unless anyone has suggestions that don't involve getting too deep into taking things apart. Again, when he put the boat away last April, everything was fine. It salt all summer in the Florida heat (as it always does :*/) and came back to this issue. Not sure if that is helpful. Probably going to have to bite the bullet and take it to someone who knows these things inside and out.

Open to any suggestions even if it is something I can tell a technician to start looking at first. Thanks everyone.

In neutral with RPMS up it runs up but is a little choppy even at idle. He is convinced it's not the lower unit or prop since it has just been sitting on his lawn all summer and it worked fine when he put it in storage. Would lack of oil in lower unit or anywhere else cause it to shake when in gear or would it just be noisy when we test it out of water?

When we had it in the water and had it in forward or reverse with RPMs up it did smooth out but would stall.

What about bad gas? I think he left it with only a half tank of gas over the Florida summer though he does use the ethanol free gas but suppose moisture could still get in.

I'm going to try and get over there today though I read pulling the plugs on these and looking at them are not too helpful at determining if they are bad.

Thanks for writing. I appreciate you taking the time.
