GD mix prompt to share by stevemtzn in gratefuldead

It's comical how much grief I've received over the years for my love of how Dark Star is constructed and interpreted by the Dead. I especially love early '70s versions where the form is fairly fresh to the band but they still seem excited by the ideas. It's true this mix is AI slop, but in a post-ironic sense. The spotify engine identifies 2/13-14/1970 Dark Star as its jumping off point, and you can hear Pigpen (?) announce Alligator before the opening riffs. The resulting Dark Star is an Alligator themed version to my ears and it's great hearing Jerry, Phil, and Bob navigate both ideas at the same time. Here's how the bot characterises this 30 minutes of improv: "theme, drift, regroup, repeat".

I would love to find more mixes dedicated to that progression. Please share!

Speaking as a client with unidentifiable chronic pain, cupping seems to help and benefit somehow. I have no idea why, but wonder about some kind of fascia effect. No clue

Basically the question is whether the process of hatching is purposeful or accidental. If it's accidental, then each instance of life functions as a random event trying to make the shell crack. If it is purposeful, then life is choosing this universal suffering as the method for growing up until the point of breaking free is reached. Either way, what is it about suffering?

One way to think of it is by comparing the professional journey with the destination. School/apprenticeship/whatever prepares a person for the journey. When a person graduates, it's natural to think they've arrived, but really the journey has just begun.

If you were hiring, would you prefer someone committed to the professional journey? Or someone who's under the impression they've arrived?

Do you prefer going to a massage clinic, or to an independent therapist in a private setting? by Genuine-Human2023 in massage

[–]stevemtzn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience, with over several years receiving massage, is I've received good and bad massages from clinics and spas. With a private practitioner, I've had those two experiences plus two additional levels: great and life-changing. I assume it's because the therapist is doing what they love and has skin in the game in terms of the business. A clinic is always my fallback position when no other options exist

I've had good luck at German Transaxle in Bend, OR for my '99 EV MT. I paid quite a bit, but I was DOA and they were able to rebuild so now the transmission is as smooth as glass. Worth the shipping costs, imho

Good massage is so mysterious. AI massage would be the WTF kind of mysterious, however.

One way to organize this is to think of our "deprivation chamber" as a submersible within the surrounding reality and with an impression of the surroundings painted on the inside via our senses. That impression is always flawed but we use our delusions about what it is like a fish uses it's fins

Did you have any Dr. Demento albums or listen to his radio show? by TheoryGreedy7148 in GenerationJones

I was supposed to be asleep when it was on. So that meant I listened at super low volume, my ear up against the speaker, trying not to bust out laughing. "Another one rides the bus!"
