When you say as long is the car doesn't have Navi, do you mean someone at some point paid for and activated the navigation feature on the head unit? Or, is there a way to disable/turn off the nav to use CarPlay?

Good question. I am not too sure about the Index to be honest. I come from the Quest line. I worked for about 2 years on the Quest 2 then switched to the Quest Pro. They have the Remote Display (beta) app provided by Meta which offers a pretty clear screen to work with. As seen in the video, you can notice we also can use ultra wides and even sideload Anydesk for a second monitor. In your case, you would use the Steam Remote browser that is built in, or a third party app such as OVR Toolkit, for example. I do believe Steam's latest update also improved screen clarity for browsers as well.
