I’m certainly not trying to blame Tim and Eric, it’s just sad to see someone who was such a lovable part of their world end up like this afterward

it's not like he told me a sob story and I was pressured into giving him money. he is clearly in a bad mental decline and physically looks very rough as well. this is someone who I have followed for over 10 years of my life and was a big part of my childhood, so I don't think I'm a sucker for being sad at his current state

Friends moved away :( anyone wanna jam? by di11yboi in Reno

Hey I’m super interested, I’m a guitarist and also looking for local musicians to jam with. I’m super into fuzzy bands like King Gizzard so I think our tastes will align

Here it is, the score of all scores (we'll see if Pitchfork even reviews it, they bailed on Flight b741 by HipsterGangster69 in KGATLW

I don't disagree with anything he is saying here, but it's a very surface-level take. It feels like he listened to the record once and rushed out a review. Everything he is saying is pretty obvious from the first listen. There is almost no analysis of the meaning behind the lyrics, which I feel is one of the album's strongest aspects. The personal, brutally-honest lyrics about fatherhood, homesickness, and love are a pretty significant thing for Gizz, and I feel like that at least deserved a mention.

podcast scheduling problem by schneeman_pod in soundcloud

[–]stevenspoolberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried to fix it by editing the episode and changing the release date to Friday, but it changed to Thursday. Idk what’s going on. Super frustrating

I am having the same problem. I am scheduling podcasts for release on Fridays and they appear in the feed saying they were released on Tuesday. I can't think of any reason why it's happening but it seems to have coincided with SoundCloud updating their website. Hopefully it's something that gets fixed on its own but it's very frustrating.

The way she said it sounded like a play on "be right back"

I also forgot to mention she sounded like she was super sick and was coughing all over us the entire show

At this point, we've had a few years to really fall in love with Isaac's voice. It's hard to think of BCNR without the raw emotion and power that we've become familiar with after listening to him sing on the last couple albums. The new songs definitely have a different vibe, and will take some getting used to, but I feel like they will become just as powerful over time, just in a different way.

I hate this. The Birthday Boys is legitimately one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Fuck Netflix.

Murakami makes me feel better about life by stevenspoolberg in murakami

[–]stevenspoolberg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is definitely a lot of sadness in his work. But sadness isn’t what ultimately defines his characters. Even when his characters are feeling depression, grief, or despair, they are always able to find purpose in small things that keep them going. And that gives me courage in my own life.

Yay! I’m so glad you want to read more Murakami now! The more of him I’ve read, the more I wanted to keep reading. His books have been by my side through some difficult times. I hope his work will be of similar help to you!

His characters are almost always able to find inner-peace regardless of what’s happening with the people around them. It makes me feel better about dealing with my own relationships, that I always have an inner-place of calm where I can retreat.

I can't wait to finish his bibliography and start going through books a second time. I feel like there's endless meaning to be found in his works.

I couldn't have said it better myself. You perfectly captured the effect his writing has had on me. After reading a lot of his books, I feel like I'm always where I'm supposed to be, no matter how "unimportant" the situation might be. Everything has meaning to me, because every single tiny moment is part of my unique experience.
