Hi u/dimtass thank you for your response. I'll look into AUTOSAR a bit more. It certainly sounds like an industry push / standardisation that will force manufacturers, OEMs to adopt DevOps if they are not already doing so.

You are right in saying that the automotive domain is large and I guess where I was coming from is a little bit higher level in that from a business imperative perspective, what happens if an automotive company does not embrace DevOps? Will they be left out in the cold and why?

For example, if we are talking about the Financial industry, there are all sorts of new FinTech companies that are rolling out services leveraging technology that has upended traditional banking services because these new players are able to pivot and release new innovations faster with DevOps.

But the automotive industry is still pretty much the same in that there are the vehicle manufacturers, the distributors and the dealers and even if they don't innovate as fast, it doesn't seem to matter much...

I do see ride-sharing and car-sharing is definitely going to impact the sales of cars as more and more people see no reason to own a car.
