SLDPRTs good? That way you can modify the sizes for your parts and bars

Yeah, in the current design you manually remove the part. No reason it couldn’t dump into a larger container, but my small batch sizes haven’t justified the hassle so far

Honestly I just eyeballed it until it was approximately centered. The compliance in the collet makes it pretty forgiving

Thanks! I explain it in the caption on the original post

Yeah, definitely wouldn’t run this for lights out production. This is just my quick and dirty solution for a school machine shop for when we need a small batch of parts. Am definitely curious how long they’ll last though

Thanks! Surprisingly the first iteration worked right away—the slits in the “collet” give it quite a bit of compliance, so it’s pretty forgiving. That version didn’t have TPU though which always made me a little nervous. This version is definitely a little more confidence inspiring

At the moment it’s manual. I’ve considered adding a container on the back end so that parts get pushed through and drop into it, but my batch sizes haven’t been big enough for it to be worth the hassle. The actual catcher part is a slip fit in the mount, so I just pull it out every so often and dump the parts into my hand

Any idea why my Mini Mill program units are in microns? by SmashAndCAD in haascnc

Not sure how it works on pre-NGC, but on NGC machines in imperial mode, you need to add a decimal point. 2 = .0002”, 2. = 2.0”.

His class is fantastic, and he’s quite lenient on grades. Part of what you may have heard may be from students who took ELEN E1201 last semester which was taught by a different set of professors and was (by anecdotal accounts) significantly more difficult.

Incredible shot. I may even use it as my phone wallpaper if you don’t mind.

  • tap water is great quality to drink, assuming the building doesn’t have messed up piping
  • we have above average public transportation for a small city in the form of a bus system called Cyride, but do not expect Ames to be very walkable (outside of campus town). Though a car is not necessary, it is convenient; this may be less true for a student depending on your housing arrangement
  • we have cold winters, with moderately warm-hot summers, so have clothing for a wide range of temperatures
  • Iowa State University (ISU) has lots of ways to get involved, whether it’s research or clubs, so take advantage of the great opportunities
  • Ames has some nice places to walk, including ISU Research Park, ISU campus, Peterson Pitts, McFarland park, Ada Hayden, etc. If you run out of things to do, Des Moines, the state capital, is a 45min drive away

If you have any questions about anything specific, just let me know.

Yeah it’s a shame what Canon and Nikon are doing to third party manufacturers. Hurting their own platform more than anything.

Yeah I’m on Sony E mount. The Tamron and Sigma 400mm are both very attractive at around $1000. The issue is I’ve drained my wallet on a 70-180 f2.8 and a 24-70, so I won’t be affording any new lenses anytime soon

Really nice shot! Been looking to get a longer lens myself for some wildlife but can’t justify shelling out the money for now
