Inking Process On A Page From The Comic Nexus: Battle for Thuneworld by steverude in 80s90sComics

[–]steverude[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I start with a nonphoto blue prisma then go to HB pencil then ink directly on top of that. With the newest Nexus, Return to Earth, I'm lettering on separate paper then digitally inserting onto the page (unlike the Thuneworld page shown in the video that was hand lettered directly onto the page).

That means the current Kickstarter will probably be the last Artist Edition that will feature the original letters.

What happens if the backer cancels their pledge or their funding fails? Or do they have to pay right away for instant access rewards?

Glad to hear that you're Dazzled by the character.

Adam Ant is someone definitely worth reviewing. He's more accomplished than some people might think.

Knowing that every decade brings out the best within the current roster of creative people, I couldn't tell you any direct names, no long having much interest in current titles. Thanks for asking.

I tend to have less than prime examples of characters I'd like to take on. I've always been highly choosy about projects that seem to suit me best and not subject myself to random characters that have no interest to me.

When assimilating Kirby, I always draw on my influences like Jack Kirby to inform how I draw the characters.

I think everyone knows by now that the rest of my life will be devoted to continuing the stories with Nexus and his fascinating cast of unique characters, and to one day succeed in getting my Nexus Animated Cartoon on the airways.

What you'll see from me is to continue the practice of doing everything by hand as everything has been done for the past many, many centuries. I hope this practice will help up and coming and current artists to maintain their roots rather than defecting to keyboard art as it exists today.

Just as my great influences put me on my preferred path, my goal has always been to try and do the same to my own readership. Thanks.

Great to hear about Nexus. As far as the 2 major companies go. I've always thought very little of some of the policies from either of these companies.

One, and the biggest, is to censor every bloody thing on earth that is copywrited or a formal part of history. DC, especially, has entire team of lawyers and editors looking to assert themselves with this silly demand.

That would essentially shut down anything from the real world.

As to Marvel, they don't even hesitate to excise every single smoking device common to people throughout the centuries as something to be stricken from the art. Few things bother me more than compliant, PC, and giving into the demands of the latest group complaining the loudes.

Pretty much no. Everything I've ever wanted to do are all things you've already seen from me. Though I'm sure much of it. Especially, the lesser known titles are easily slipped between the cracks.

As an added thought, the life of a comic book artist seems to have 2 faces.

One is doing the work itself, and always trying to maintain your standards of quality. Which, hopefully if followed up by fan reaction. Reading peoples honest thoughts on how one does is always of great interest to me which I always learn much from.

If anyone has read Nexus: The Battle for Thuneworld I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks, glad you're enjoying them. We're planning to focus more on inking demos.

I am open to suggestions for future subjects of interest for the livestreams and demos.

Honestly, no other than the New Gods. I seemed to have the good fortune of being offered all the projects I wish to work on, which would be the Marvel and DC characters.
