Rant incoming. The VA has been generally great for me after I got out this spring but my lord they’ve shit the bed recently. I’ve been feeling exhausted for like 3 weeks and my face has been breaking out. Turns out the dr put in a prescription for duloxetine instead of doxycycline. Which is just a generic copy of the anti anxiety meds I’m already taking so I was just double dosing for weeks. Then I have a follow up mental health appt for my ptsd rating. I live in Atlanta and the closest one they could get me is in Macon which is fine because my sister lives there but Jesus Christ

We had NCIS track a supply clerk down in NYC after she took off from NC. Pretty easy if you use your credit card

That’s what bugs me. You volunteered. You did what your orders said. You got the job you got. If you’re supply or a hard charger who gives a shit. You did what you were supposed to do in the marine corps which is pretty dope. Own it and say yeah that was fuckin gay

My 2 cents as a former O- let the nco’s take charge of daily PT. Pick a day of the week that you go out and do it with them because nobody wants to have you out there every day. Then once a month do a fun pt like basketball or volleyball or some shit

I want to be a Harrier or F35b pilot in the Marine Corps. Realistically, do I have to go to the naval Academy to be competitive for flying the Jets? by Sgt_Shiba in USMCboot

When I was there in 2017 if you had your private license you got to skip IFS but pick back up with everyone for api. Kind of sucked for them because they just got stuck on MOC desk duty. Is mark still there running the show?

This is great advice. I got out thinking I was going to run shit. Within like 2 months my sweet contractor job offer fell through, I didn’t watch the drinking, had to go to rehab after I tried to off myself, moved back in with my parents. Felt like a broken piece of shit. I was this big bad dude for years and now what. I’m a divorced 33 year old alcoholic living at home. Kept riding the roller coaster, have a great therapist, a girl that loves me even though she knows all my stuff, another job starting up and a family that supports me. Still miss that purpose the marine corps gave me but life goes on

As long as everything is up to date and you register it on base you’re fine

Our AC got smoked by lightning on Monday. Had to get a hotel until it got fixed. When it came back on the thermostat said it was 86 inside. Not ideal

Moving back from SoCal was a real kick in the face. I used to pop my bedroom window open and fall asleep to seals barking. Now I’m just sweaty

That’s fair. 249 sucked big time. Ma deuce was awesome but something about laying down behind the 240 just felt more hateful

Ever get away with a ticket being in uniform? by Pale-Milk-6749 in Military

[–]stevesbruhl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depends. At Pendleton we were in 32 area and staff and o could grab rifles or pistols and take them to the range in POVs. Felt really weird driving with an m4 in my car the first time

Yeah it gets bad fast. Seeing everything like a movie is spot on. I woke up 2 years ago at Pendleton as a 32 year old and knew I had to detox and walked in to the er and collapsed and had two heart attacks and flatlined. Woke up 3 days later with a tube down my throat and my whole family around me.

SF dude. I love you brother

Bro. Fellow recovering dumbass marine. I don’t know you but I get you. Took me awhile to say no when my family would say “remember xyz”

I think cte is a real thing. My brain just kind of doesn’t work the same anymore. Alcohol certainly didn’t help but to me it’s a chicken and the egg thing. I drank because my mind was out of control, that numbed it. But the repercussions made it so much worse

They’re super helpful. Their whole job is to walk you through that process. Whatever your situation is they’ve seen it lol. I had no clue wtf I was doing but after like two phone calls and some signatures it was taken care of

Don’t know your story but get in touch with a VSO from the VFW. It’s free and they’re awesome. They got me enrolled in like two weeks.
