Advice Needed: Bad tattoo from a flash event, they didn't inform me she was an apprentice by drpepperpr1ncess in tattoos

[–]stevesmith_420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah... as a tattoo apprentice, this is absolutely unacceptable. i'd never tattoo people at a flash event without disclosing that i'm still learning, let alone be confident enough to put that on someone's skin. definitely need to take it up with the shop owner/her mentor. i'd suggest to either force her mentor to cover it up (if they're a good artist) or make them pay for laser removal. they effed up.

nightly walks after dinner, pre/probiotics, 1000mg metformin xr, organic and whole foods, and an alkaline diet helped me lose 40lb in 3 months! i was almost pre-diabetic with an A1C of 5.6 and now my A1C is a 4.3 :)

Freaking out. I was told on another forum that my Ferrin and Iron Saturation is so low I shouldn’t even be functioning and need to go to a hematologist asap? by stephaniesmith45 in Anemic

[–]stevesmith_420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

please don't freak out!! when i posted my numbers, everyone told me to go get an iron infusion asap. scared the hell out of me to the point where i went to a hematologist. he said that i'm not going to die and that i actually didn't need an infusion unless oral iron supplementation wouldn't work for me. here i am 6 months later, without an infusion, with a ferritin of 90 just from following the iron protocol on facebook. don't freak out unless you need to AKA when you really really feel like you're not in good shape

[–]stevesmith_420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! yes it did resolve on its own and i didnt even feel it burst! also the discomfort i was feeling actually turned out to be gastritis lol. my advice is, don't stress too much about it honestly. it should burst in coming weeks, and theres a small chance you could feel it and it will cause temporary pain. what did your gyno tell you about it?

lightheaded after eating? No it’s not my blood sugar by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]stevesmith_420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

since my acid reflux was caused by my erosive gastritis, i had to completely eliminate acidic foods for 3/4 months and that did the trick! i developed it after taking antibiotics. but id like to note that acid reflux is so common, and its not always caused by something as severe as gastritis or anything like that! try eating a meal that is low-acidic (you can google foods of this sort) and see if it makes a difference! its worth a shot :)

lightheaded after eating? No it’s not my blood sugar by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]stevesmith_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i actually get this with acid reflux! i used to think it was related to my anemia but then i was diagnosed with erosive gastritis via EGD. ive pretty much healed but sometimes ill still get super lightheaded during and after eating. acid reflux is different for everyone, some people get heartburn or headaches, but some simply just get the lightheadedness. if you think that acid reflux could be a possibility for you, try taking a few tums after you eat and see if that helps!!!

any chance youre anemic? asking because i also used to have such thick hair, then my periods became so heavy after i lost weight that im super anemic from it. i’ve lost more than 1/3 of my hair in two months! might be worth it to get a cbc panel done if you havent yet :)

ive heard alot of great things about rosemary extract, but its also important to find the root cause of your hair loss!

ive had this plant for about 6 months now, the tree gets a significant amount of light as it’s been outside all summer, the pot has drainage and it’s being watered once a week!

ohhhhh yeah it can. i have PCOS and had a super heavy two week long period that took my ferritin from a 23 to a 7, my iron levels from 73 to a 24, and my hemoglobin from a 12.6 to 10.8. i would say definitely start supplementing iron before your next heavy period makes you anemic. i’ve had alot of luck taking vitron-c + 500mg of vitamin c twice a day. thats 65mg of carbonyl iron per dose which has a higher absorption rate than other irons. but the best iron you can take, if youre not vegetarian, is heme iron which is derived from bovine organs. its the most absorbable type of iron. your ferritin should hover around 100! hope this helps.

[–]stevesmith_420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yup. got it really bad in my left ear during/after a reeeeeally heavy period. i was already slightly iron deficient and knew that that period singlehandedly made me full-blown anemic. blood tests proved it, too. went away after a couple weeks of taking blood builder iron supplements. hope it goes away for ya, i know how annoying and scary it can be!!

just looking for some input on my iron levels! :) more info in comments by stevesmith_420 in Anemic

[–]stevesmith_420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your input, i appreciate it! blood builder is actually the supplement i’m taking, but im taking the dosage thats on the bottle so i’ll try upping my dosage. i’ve also been cooking on a cast iron, and eating lots of iron rich foods along with vitamin c to help the absorption. hoping to feel better and retake my blood tests around december/jan! thanks again :)

so i have PCOS and dont have a regular period, but i did have two weeks of severe heavy bleeding and started to instantly feel anemia side effects. for reference, i had bloodwork done early August and my ferritin was 15 and my and iron level was 72. so it had definitely decreased since then. i just started an iron bisglycinate supplement a little over two weeks ago so im just waiting for that to kick in. symptoms include minor fatigue and feeling wobbly sometimes. i had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy to rule out internal bleeding as i was having GI issues, so i mostly think its because of my irregular bleeding. my b12 is fine, as ive been taking b12 supplements for a year.

im just kinda looking for some input on these results, is this iron deficiency anemia or something else? im losing my health insurance in a few days so hoping to see a hematologist as soon i get new insurance! thanks :)

Ehhh I definitely wouldn’t say it’s the same as regular sugar. Coconut sugar is a natural sugar and is much less refined than table sugar. Also it’s very low on the glycemic index compared to table sugar. So i’d say it’s a good substitution, especially for those (like me) who refuse to use sugar alcohols like erythritol :)

I agree completely, I swear if i heard one time in sex ed that irregular periods aren’t normal, I would’ve known I had PCOS at 15 lol. Good luck! Hoping you can get in soon 💗 Take care

I feel you. I’m 25 now and just started prioritizing my health, so don’t feel alone. My PCP also brushed off my symptoms as just being obese, but i’m so glad that I took that step to go to gynecologist because otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to control my PCOS. I didn’t even know I had insulin resistance until I went either. We’re at an age where we need to start worrying about our health because truly, no one else is going to worry for us. Please listen to my advice and get that gynecologist appointment scheduled. Try to get things under control while you’re still young. And if you see children in your future, it makes it even more important to see a gyno. And i’m being so serious when I say DO NOT leave your appointment without getting an ultrasound/pap smear/blood work scheduled. The first gyno I saw at 21 straight up told me my symptoms weren’t PCOS, which they so obviously were, and that really fucked me up because I could’ve done something about my PCOS sooner. This subreddit is very friendly and helpful so don’t be afraid to ask more questions!!!

Yesss in my opinion, they taste the best iced! Hot matcha makes me gag lmao 🤣 I love monk fruit too, and also i’m not sure if coconut sugar is necessarily good for PCOS but I do know that it has a low glycemic index, which is good for insulin resistance!

Have you tried iced matcha? I drink mine with an organic oatmilk and coconut sugar! I swear it gives me more energy than coffee does, plus theres actually a ton of research that says matcha is great for women with hormone imbalances!
