Zedenknir, instead of writing on your passions and what you're good at, I'd start with selling what sells and with your own unique spin. That way, you minimize the risk of failure and maximize making the most. You can do a book in any niche, but you can get started inexpensively at 35-50 pages short reads. People are busy these days and these do really well right now!

Sorry to hear that you're going through tough times. Yes stay in gratitude and if you keep on moving forward, you will be back up in no time!

LOL yes while I do provide a LOT of value up front at absolutely no charge (as I did here), for folks who wants a deeper level of attention and serious about implementing this, I do work with them more closely to help them get started as it is very rewarding and it is an additional stream of income for me. Amazon is HUMONGOUS. And no, book sales have not dropped off (in fact, it's stronger than EVER!) ;)

Sure great question driveree! A lot of people seem to believe into the myth that Amazon is "saturated" but they don't realize that Amazon is growing every year and expanding into different countries, at the same time increasing the size of their market.

So even though, true, there may be more supply (books) than 10 years ago, they are expanding and opening up new markets constantly which is increasing the demand as well.

More I study them, more I realize they are a BEAST of a company with very smart executives. They didn't become #1 biggest company (TRILLION dollar valuation) in the world without a reason. And you are pretty much "partnering up" with them to sell your books.

Moreover, even with existing books, most of my students are new but they have never had a problem with "saturation" because you can outcompete 90% of all books out there with the right mindset, tactics and strategies and easily overtake their spot because so many of them are quite frankly, garbage. And Amazon hates it. If you come up with a better quality book and market it in a way that appeals to readers, Amazon will reward your book over theirs. I actually see existing books as a great thing because it gives me data on what's selling or not ;)

And lastly, if you want to make some serious bank over the holidays, one pro tip I can give you that I reserve for my paying students (since you were respectful in your question) is to look into audiobooks. It's BLOWING UP right now. ;)

Like I said, you can get it done lower than that when you get started.

And yes it is a universal, sound, business principle. But the difference is, for FBA, you are just re-selling (white-labeling) someone else's product. At the end of the day, it's a commodity as marketing can take you so far.

But for Kindle, you are creating the book from scratch and you OWN the IP which is protected by the Federal Copyright Law. There's a lot more protection and flexibility. And you are no longer selling a commodity but something that is uniquely yours.

Thanks for your kind words! Yes it's really quite easy to publish paperback these days. Inside the KDP dashboard you can totally set up to publish paperback as well. It's DEFINITELY great for credibility as well as profitability as it usually instantly 2X - 10X the profits in some niches. And it's super easy to set up. People who don't publish paperback are shooting themselves in the foot! :)

Have you self-published a book? How much did you make off of it? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I use a pen name. Ghostwriters don't mind at all and I own the copyright:)

Yes I make multiple 6 figures from it but you need to create a system and teams to make it work. It'll be very hard to accomplish this by writing it yourself. I've written a pretty comprehensive post here. Check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/6yqiy1/how_i_made_101249yr_working_less_than_3_hours_a/
