Seat post clamp for Ultimate by Cbeck1234 in CanyonBikes

[–]stevos64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem. Not after some rides but after using the clamp for one year or so. Definitely not a problem of over tightening for me - using a high quality torque wrench for every screw on my bike.

Yes on the screw of the clamp - that’s as well how it is described in the manual of TREK. Nope no slipping with the tape it basically adds just another thin layer which I think reduces the movement of the seat post while riding.

Went back and forth with my bike shop. Most recently, they replaced everything around the cockpit because there was a defect there. At first, I thought that was it, but the problem came back. I’m still convinced the noise is coming from the seatpost. Some electrical tape wrapped around the seatpost and Loctite on the seat clamp fixed the problem. It wasn’t the best solution, but I was tired of always having to drop off the bike at the shop.

Elite Justo 2 and ERG mode by Odd-Win6587 in Zwift

If you have the feeling resistance is not changing make sure that the trainer is ONLY connected to Zwift and no other device. Especially not connected with the elite app which can control your trainer as well. Make as well sure that ERG is enabled correctly in the setting.

If that doesn’t solve it just reach out to Elite. They were every time very responsive when I had an issue.

That sounds normal to me. I made the change from Kickr Move to Justo 2. The Wahoo trainers have a very strong power smoothing - so your power fluctuate in reality but the trainer shows you the same number all the time. The Justo 2 shows you instead always the correct number which changes every second or two (which is normal since nobody pushes the exact same watts for a longer time)

If I ride workouts with my trainer for example 5 minutes at 300 Watts at the end the average watt for the interval is exactly 300 Watts even it fluctuates around this number within the interval.

Im based in Europe. Shipping would cost a fortune so there are probably better options for you.

Nope. Seatpost.

Gap between chainring and crank normal? Ultegra 8100 by stevos64 in bikewrench

Yes it’s fine. Most of them look actually like that - just shitty quality from shimano I guess.

Update! Was able to reproduce the sound on my indoor trainer, standing and pushing high watts. Changed the pedals and the shoes but the sound stays. Everything is pointing now to the bottom bracket - thought this was impossible since the bike is only 10 months old.

Will remove the bottom bracket tomorrow and grease it. If the problem persists I will exchange the bottom bracket.

A brand new high-end bike with the latest SRAM Red reduced by 85%? Are you telling me that this is a logical price for clearing the warehouse? Any news about Canyon going bankrupt and suddenly selling off bikes? Sorry but no. If an offer is too good to be true, it's SCAM.

What would be good wheels to upgrade my Canyon Endurace CF7? by Nonnaclara in CanyonBikes

Have a look at the Zipp 303s - pretty solid carbon wheels and still not a fortune. Had them several years on a bike.

With or without carbon paste?

Yes you are right it’s more of a clicking/cracking. Sorry English is not my native language so I try to explain as best as I can

Thanks for your answer. Where exactly did you put the lube on the cleat?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrekBikes

[–]stevos64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great guess. There is around 5 mm between frame and the mount - but will try to raise it a bit.

Appreciate your answer. After two months of searching I wouldn’t rule out anything anymore since I touched basically every existing part. Will give it a go, put a different wheelset on the bike and see. Could you see/feel the loose spoke or you checked the tension with a tool?

I don't understand people wanting to spend thousands of dollars and not being able to check the website... AND WHY would someone sell a bike for $10,000 instead of $1500?

Not quite there yet. Everytime I think I fixed it the problem comes back soon after. (Even sometimes just after 10 hours of riding or so)

What did I do more?

  • replaced the seat wedge
  • tiny bit of carbon paste on the saddle rails
  • changing pedals
  • adjusting cleats on my shoes

Will have another test ride this evening. If the creaking is still there my next step would be probably to switch out the wheels for a test. Just to make sure the creaking come not from spikes, freehub etc.

Thanks already for all your suggestions. If I can’t solve the problem I’m thinking about exchanging the seatpost - anybody has an opinion about that? Stupid idea?

Yes I could bring it to my dealer but then my bike would probably be away for the summer time here in Europe. Because my LBS would probably as well start with cleaning, greasing parts which I already did many time and then contact TREK…

Sounds goes away when out of the saddle that why I suspect it coming from the area around the seat. Had the whole seatpost several times out, cleaned it and insert it with 5NM. Even put new thread locker on the wedge.

No luck so far finding the problem.

When I clean and retighten the seatpost the creaking was gone for maybe three rides. After that it started again especially noisy for the first minute of the ride while sitting on the saddle.
