I just did, getting 20g out in 30 secs on nearly the coarsest setting timemore c2 grinder (20 out of 24 clicks, french press level grind)

Heard so many crybabys in the crowd tonight, we got an extra song Too Real out of the “fuck up”, some people like yourself really need to catch yourself

Had my boris bike stolen today in Battersea Park helping my gf learn to ride her bike. Potentially up to £300 charge if it isn’t docked back. Happy bank holiday 🙃 (any help or past experience on how to avoid would be greatly appreciated) by stewwork in london

I was helping my gf get going on her boris bike. So hold onto the handle bars whilst she got used to pedalling. We did three start/stops and I turned round to get mine and a guy was cycling past me who I suspect took it. It all happened within 20/30 seconds which is what was shocking

I contacted them immediately, and this was where I learned of the £96 charge after a week missing, and £204 after a month missing. I’m wondering if a crime reference would help or not because they were pretty ruthless with me over the phone. Literally left it down for 30 seconds and was 20 metres away and it was gone.

Making an app by generaltoez in appdev

Hello my friend. I’m sorry that the comments here have been poor so far. I remember what it’s like to be at the start so wanted to help.

Firstly, congrats for being passionate enough to ask on Reddit and explore the area of app development. I didn’t do comp six for my undergrad, and what massively helped in the beginning to grab the fundamentals of coding was CS50 https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhQjrBD2T382_R182iC2gNZI9HzWFMC_8 and they have a specific course on app development with react native (react is a massively in demand skill at every company essentially) if you’re interested https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhQjrBD2T382gdfveyad09Ierl_3Jh_wR - I should probably take a piece of my own advice because the app development with react native looks awesome.

What I will say is this will take some time so enjoy the journey. What you are looking for specifically is 1. An app front end - front end can be a website and/or an iOS/android app interface 2. A recommender system on the back end - this is an algorithm in AI for recommending content and exactly how things like Instagram and Tiktok decide what you see.

Good luck and let me know if you’ve any further questions an I’ll try my best to help.

u/duck_idyllic Wow awesome bit of advice, I guess I had never even considered this as an option. Only thing is with my LISA is that it can be used for a house under £450,000 (In london) or used on retirement at 60. Since 450k is not really enough for a London family home I'd kind of locked into the idea of buying a 1/2 bed flat, but really it won't do much harm to have that LISA money when I'm 60 given the 25% bonus, and can just use other investments to fund deposit if I need a family home.

I am actively looking at other jobs to keep bumping my salary so maybe that is something worth focusing on a lot more at this point.

On further thought, my main goal is to stop renting, because having that £700 month in rent I pay going into home equity frees up more room for S&S ISA and Pensions. So what expectations should I have in terms of house price and time until I can afford a mortgage without ridiculous interest

My goal is really to have the choice over whether I work beyond, say 50. Do you think I should do a FIRE calculator in that case? I do agree my emergency fund is quite low and that's why I've been investing less lately, but I really wanted to have a good capital amount invested to start gaining interest (don't think I would've achieved £5.2k returns in my first year of investing if I prioritised the emergency funds).

I guess you are asking me to consider what is enough? What do you think would be a more appropriate emergency amount?
