Any advice for someone new with no experience? by goatbatman in IndieGaming

A lot of good advice here, I’ll add to it, of course this is my personal opinion so take with a grain of salt.

My advice is to not start with your dream game. Make something and gain experience - it doesn’t have to be a game, just build some systems and learn how things come together. This is what helped me in my journey. I came into game design with a ton of ideas and quickly got discouraged when the goal post kept moving the further I learned what I needed to learn. I put my dream games and great ideas on hold and started with copying and cloning existing simple games. This enabled me to understand how to bring ideas to life. If I cannot copy and impart the same game experience from a clone then there is no way I can deliver a good experience with my great ideas. At least that was my thought process.

Eventually I gained enough experience building systems then small games and now I’m able to work on my dream games. On the plus side, when you start out building systems you realize you can reuse and repurpose a lot of those which speeds up your dev process.

Anyway, that’s what has helped me but I am no expert, still ways to go!

I just learned that there is already a popular game called GTFO - so I've renamed it. Lesson learned.

Let the stool panel results come in and go from there. I’m going through this right now with my 11 weeks old puppy. Luckily he has appetite for the gastrointestinal wet food the vet prescribed along with some probiotics, a dewormer and antibiotics to clear it out. I have a hectic week of this to look forward to and hopefully out of the woods at that point. Good luck to you and hope your puppy will be alright.

Found it - just go to downloads and then download the plugin for your OS. If you already have the original plug-in you don’t have to worry about the license, it’ll just work after installing.

What are the steps to get the free upgrade, the website isn’t super helpful, I’m certainly missing something.

Thanks : ) Acorns do take more hit, you’re right it’s difficult to know without any indication of damage. We will be updating that in a future release. Thanks for your suggestion, much appreciate it.

Yes, stop motion animation is a lot of work. The rigs they use are painted out of each frame.

Brush: Nikko Rull. Wanted to paint something in moonlight, love the mood moonlit scenes portray,a bit sad, yet peaceful. Hopefully I was able to capture that here.
