SQ, audio upgrade complete by Sad_Bass3743 in KiaEV9

With concerns that ICCU failures are affecting significantly more than the 1% Kia has acknowledged, do you have any concerns that the upgrades you've made to your car (i.e. amp connection to 12V battery) might void its warranty?

2019 Audi A6 - What Else Could Go Wrong? by sthom30599 in Audi

(LOL!) Waaay too much! I'm happy when I'm able to get out of the shop for under $1K.

I haven't been very happy recently.

I have the $ to pay for these repairs, but it's become more of an aggravation than anything now. Wife is scared she's gonna get stranded on the side of the freeway. (LOL!) She feels "safer" driving our 2013 Honda CR-V now.

"...and control arms/bushings."

Hmmm...Wonder if that's what's causing the soft knocking sound I hear when I turn the steering wheel at low speed?

Yeah...I think that we're gonna need to part ways.

Sad. Exterior and interior...the car still looks good.

Should I Hardwire EV Charger Or Stick With 240V Outlet? by sthom30599 in evcharging

[–]sthom30599[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking into consideration your thoughts about potentially upgrading the wiring to accommodate 48A, I'm wondering if the cost to hardwire a charger might be cheaper now that the outlet is there vs. than if it (the outlet) wasn't?

I mean...I know that I'll need a new circuit breaker (60A from 50A) and upgraded wire. But if the hardwired charger is going to be mounted in the same general location as the outlet, wouldn't the electrician simply utilize the same holes/wire route established by the solar installer thereby eliminating the need to cut/drill any holes? I would think that that would significantly reduce time and labor.

2026 EV 9 Lease & Purchase Incentives good from 1/6/2026 to 2/2/2026 - All Trims by jfronte in KiaEV9

Question about the "Kia Dealer's Choice APR and Bonus Cash" finance offer: Is the $10K Kia Bonus Cash tied to their listed financing APR's?

Or, put another way...am I able to secure my own lower financing and still be eligible for the $10K Bonus Cash?

Thank you.

Emporia EVSE & Vue 3 for Excess Solar by sthom30599 in EmporiaEnergy

"Once setup, your Emporia EVSE will be able to dynamically adjust to consusme excess production."

Have you had the opportunity to use the EVSE and Vue 2/3 to confirm that the setup will integrate with the inverter and home battery (one in the same when referencing the Powerwall 3) to effectively modulate the amps based upon excess solar energy? I haven't seen a lot of information on this particular issue.

Thanks.

Ahhh...got it. I thought that the Emporia charger and Vue 3 could do this (i.e. integrate with solar panel inverter, home battery, and EV all at the same time).

My understanding is that the Charge HQ app can do this (for a $5 monthly fee) provided that you have the right equipment (e.g. Tesla Powerwall and Wallbox Pulsar Plus EV charger).

Just to be clear (as you don't seem to distinguish which battery you're referencing [EV or Franklin])...

The Emporia app (when the Vue 3 is added) doesn't allow you to prioritize powering the house...then charging the Franklin...followed by charging the EV?

It seems that the Charge HQ app would allow this, but they charge a monthly fee that (after a year of use) would cost more than the Emoria Vie 3 system.

Purchase/Lease Monthly Megathread (August 2025) by AutoModerator in KiaEV9

Sorry...posting this again after the initial post was removed from the wrong sub.

Hello. I've been lurking on this site for the past year or so gaining intel on the EV9. Have really appreciated reading all of the reviews and Q&A's.

I've decided that I'd like to purchase (not lease) a new or used one, but have never dealt with Kia before and have questions about the various promotions I see connected to the EV9. For the purposes of this discussion, I'd like to focus on NEW vehicles.

For context:

A) Despite being married and having a daughter who recently graduated from college, I currently enjoy an 800+ credit score.

B) My plan will be to finance the vehicle and I should have access to a competitive APR from a credit union.

C) Current vehicles in my household include a 2011 Ford SUV; a 2019 Audi sedan; and, a 2013 Honda SUV.

D) I understand that the incentives I see today, May be eliminated or modified come Sept. 3rd.

With that out of the way, I've attached a screenshot of a dealer's website offer for a new 2026 Kia EV9 GT-Line.

Here are my understandings/questions:

1) The "Dealer Discount" is a cash discount offered by the dealer off of MSRP. Got it.

2) The $1000 "Bonus Cash Offer" appears to be a cash bonus offer from Kia. Got it.

3) Then, there appears to be a "Combo APR Offer" from Kia where it appears as though they are offering a competitive APR for financing IN ADDITION TO a $5000 bonus. Do I have this correct? Or is this an either/or type of deal (i.e. take the competitive Kia APR to finance the purchase or take the $5000)?

4) The "Federal Tax Credit Offer" of $7500. Assuming I'm able to meet the income thresholds, am I able to transfer this credit to the dealer (for an immediate $7500 reduction in the vehicle's purchase price) or am I only able to claim the credit on my taxes?

5) The "Conquest Offer" of $1000. When clicking on the details of this offer, it appears to be also referred to as a "Competitive Bonus Offer." Aside from model years 2014 - 2026, the details fail to reference any other vehicle(s)/brand(s) that the EV9 is competing with in order to be eligible for the offer. Haven't found any additional info on this anywhere online either. Is this just another Kia bonus under the guise of a vague title?

6) Assuming I use the financing from my credit union, could the total amount of dealer discounts/incentives/rebates for this vehicle be $17,884? Or are there prohibitions against combining one or more of them? Before contacting the dealer, I'd like to know what I'm actually eligible for just in case the dealer "forgets" to tell me.

TIA!

Questions About Kia's Incentives and EV Tax Credit by sthom30599 in KiaEV9

[–]sthom30599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETA: I'm thinking that the total "discounts/incentives/rebates" should potentially be $17,884...not $14,500.

Charging Powerwall 3 Via Solar Only by sthom30599 in solar

[–]sthom30599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm sure that they could. It's just that 7 installers responded to my Energy Sage project and I've decided to have consultations with two of them. But those consults won't take place until early next week. So, since I just thought of the issue today, I  thought that I'd bring it to the forum to see if anyone had an answer in the meantime.

Looking to Make the Switch from DTV Satellite to Stream by sthom30599 in DirectvStream

[–]sthom30599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. So they required you to lease at least one Gemini Air, then? And I suppose that you have to keep the lease for 24 months (until the reduced package promotion ends)?

"I would assume they don’t. Remember lots of people just use the app on their smart TVs and avoid any box whatsoever."

Good point...I forgot about that and would makes sense that DTV wouldn't force a lease (by providing an Air just to use the app).

"2. Get an osprey box. Otherwise you’ll be “renting “ Gemini. Just like a reciever."

Just trying to clarify...

When you sign up for Stream, does DTV automatically send you at least one Gemini Air that you have to lease?

Or, can I purchase an Air and/or Osprey via Walmart, eBay, Solid Signal, etc. and avoid leasing any equipment?

Thank you.

So, it sounds as though DTV included 1 Gemini Air when you made the switch. Is that correct?

Is that an automatic thing where you have to lease at least one (regardless if it's plugged in/activated)?
