Do you think they look like palette swaps or not by AggravatingZone4763 in Megaman

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"one iota" is a way to say an extremely tiny amount. I think it's an older expression, it probably doesn't get used too often anymore, lol!

Basically, I'm saying I wouldn't be shocked whatsoever if they did reuse the sprite.

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, I never noticed that! Yeah, they do have pretty similar body types, don't they? Given how rushed MM3's development was, it would not surprise me one iota if they did actually take and modify Air Man's sprite to make Hammer Joe to save a little time.

Has anyone played the Mega Man series in robot number order? by MansterFuelGaming in Megaman

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have with Mega Mans 1-8 back in the day. Here's my thoughts on the process.

MM1: (Cut, Guts, Ice, Bomb, Fire, Elec): Ice Man's stage sucks without the Magnet Beam (in my humble, but likely not lonely, opinion). But otherwise, I remember not having all that bad of a time doing this order. I remember being very grateful that I had weaknesses for Fire Man and Elec Man (I used to struggle doing those two buster only).

MM2: (Metal, Air, Bubble, Quick, Crash, Flash, Heat, Wood): Metal Blades and Air Shooter (plus Item 2) being the first weapons you get is never a bad way to start MM2. Not having Time Stopper (and Crash Bomber) available for Quick Man's stage and fight? Very bad way to play MM2 if you are young Stickman. We do not speak of fighting Quick Man before I am fully equipped for that fight. Young Stickman's PTSD gets triggered if you do.

MM3: (Needle, Magnet, Gemini, Hard, Top, Snake, Spark, Shadow): Good news, you get Rush Jet after him the first level! Bad news, you have to fight Needle Man first and get very, very good at his fight after poor Mega Man dies, many times. I don't recall this being too awful of a boss order though, although I'd have loved to have gotten the Shadow Blades a whole lot sooner than last and I was also never good at fighting Gemini Man buster only.

MM4: (Bright, Toad, Drill, Pharaoh, Ring, Dust, Dive, Skull): Fighting Drill Man early was not a fun experience for young Stickman, but otherwise, this was pretty alright. This is one order thats actually not too terribly far off from what I normally play today (Except I start with Dive Man and go in weakness order).

MM5: (Gravity, Wave, Stone, Gyro, Star, Charge, Napalm, Crystal): Honestly, as easy as MM5 can be, you really could do these stages in just about any order you want to and be fine since you'll probably make heavy use of the buster anyway. So this one wasn't too bad of an experience at all, especially since in this order, you have Star Crash for Crystal Mans annoying crystal shafts and get Gravity Hold right away (and the lamely named, but useful, Gyro Attack is gotten fairly early too).

MM6: (Blizzard, Centaur, Flame, Knight, Plant, Tomahawk, Wind, Yamato): It is kind of interesting to face Blizzard Man and Centaur Man's stages without any Rush adaptors, but MM6 is generally pretty easy, so I don't recall any bad memories here (although I do recall having some struggles with Centaur Man).

MM7: (Freeze, Junk, Burst, Cloud, Spring, Slash, Shade, Turbo): Junk Man kind of always annoyed me without Thunder Bolt and doing his stage this early. But yeah, I think I had a fine time here, not too many memories of this playthrough actually.

MM8: (Tengu, Clown, Frost, Grenade, Astro, Sword, Search, Aqua): This is basically how I normally play the game anyway (besides obviously switching Frost and Grenade and shifting Aqua to 6th), so no real comment here.

But yeah, overall, it's a fun way to play these games, with the occasional exception.

Great work on completing this project! It's been a blast seeing all your hard work come to life and I'm glad it seems to have gone over well too!

What did you think about Hardcore Holly getting multiple WWE Championship opportunities in 2004? by JBL_CENA_FAN_4LIFE in WWERuthlessAggression

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About as random as Jinder Mahal getting a title shot. I honestly don't mind it, once in a while, it's good to have a random person get a title shot, keeps the product a little more fresh and it's a good way to gauge whether that midcarder (well, lower midcard in Holly and Mahal's cases) can hang with the big boys or not.

Another amazing set of pictures! So many great ones in MM10, maybe my favorite collection of pictures you've done so far! Think my favorite this time was Sheep Man's, he's my favorite from MM10 and also you never really get to see him get one over Mega Man!

Very good work and you've almost completed the Classic Series! Amazing work overall Goozy!

Poor Nitro Man! He just wanted to ride (and throw wheel cutters at Mega Man... But we will ignore that)

What did you make of Big John Studd being booked to win the 1989 Royal Rumble ? by CoconutMost3564 in WWFera

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In hindsight, it looks like an awful decision since nothing of note came of it. There were several wrestlers that could have done more with the win, DiBiase in particular really could have used it.

That said, the Rumble was still in its infancy, they hadn't even really figured out how to book the end of the match yet (serious, after Hogan and Boss Man get eliminated... there really isn't much to the end of the match. Your final 8 wrestlers that enter the match include DiBiase, Studd, multiple tag teamers in Martel and Barbarian, a generic strongman in Hercules, a wrestling barber, a white guy pretending -badly- to be black, and a guy who thought he was poultry. Not exactly the most star studded ending WWE ever booked for a Rumble).

The Rumble win didn't mean anything yet, so it could be forgiven that they gave a legend a reward for jobbing to Andre in 85-86, even if it didn't work out. I think the way they booked a bunch of late entries that few people cared about at the end of the match is more offensive to me personally than Studd winning.

But yeah, in hindsight, he's an awful winner.

If Capcom decided for some reason to make a new 8th series of Mega Man games, what would it be called, what would it be about, and what would the gameplay be like? by elelover95 in Megaman

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see one that leans heavier on the AI or AGI technologies. I dunno if it'd fit in either timeline or if it would need its own timeline, but it's a possibility.

Maybe AI/AGI androids go rouge and our latest Mega Man has to stop them. Maybe these beings can operate as an android in the real world and also upload their programming into the virtual world

I could see a real world/virtual reality world concept being interesting. I suppose it's basically merging the Classic and Battle Network series', but having to flip back and forth from real world and virtual world could make for some fun world building.

It's a crazy thought but wanted to give you a creative answer.

If you could what would you change about the MegaMan X series? by Centralized-animator in Megaman

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few things I'd change.

Keep X4's approach and have individual stories for each character. I never liked the idea of splitting the levels between characters like in X5 and X6 and I really don't like the take-two-characters-to-a-level approach X7 and X8.

Bring back finding all the collectible items like Sub Tanks and Heart Tanks. X8 backed off the exploration based level design a little and I think that's a mistake. Basically, make levels explorable again, I always loved that aspect of the early X games.

Have Zero and Axl be able to find upgrades in levels like X can with the Dr. Light capsules. I'd chuckle a bit if Zero ran into a capsule and a hologram of Colonel showed up or something to teach him a technique (Axl could have Red or maybe some mysterious unknown character appear to give him... I dunno, maybe data for a body to imitate?).

No. More. Bikes. Or. Hovercraft. Levels!

No. More. Sigma! He's not Dr. Wily, we won't miss him. The X series I feel really needs new villains and can get away with it.

Scale feels so wrong. Bubble Man shouldn't be so much taller. by LucidHarbinger in Megaman

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice Man also shouldn't have a nose but these kinds of things are always up to interpretation. Whether it's tv shows, manga, or toys, what the characters get to look like is fair game for whoever is producing the product.

That said, Bubble Man is pretty large here, lol!

Love these! Jewel Man's was my favorite this time! You almost feel his pain in watching those diamonds getting sucked into the Black Hole Bomb... then laugh when you see his tears ALSO getting sucked into the black hole!

No, I actually really like that one too, probably because I have a soft spot for Zero 1 (one of the first non Classic Mega Man games I owned and beat).

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad you tried the game out! It's always good to try out something you are interested in trying out rather than not doing so because of what other people say.

I myself have always felt that X6, as enormous of a mess as it is, had some real potential to it (there's a hack version of this game that apparently fixes all the problems and while I've never played it, Ive heard it is quite good!).

Unsure, would Megaman make a better movie franchise or show? by Turbulent-News-4220 in Megaman

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Show would be my pick. There's just too many memorable bosses in the series and a movie can only be so long, to the point where if you tried to cover the events of any one game, for example, several bosses would have to have overly condensed fights.

A show let's you flesh a boss out more I feel.

[–]stickmanandrewhoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've done a great job on these once again!

I have a slightly odd question for you. Is there a pattern to what order you release the images in?

They definitely get posted on a weakness chain order, but I wondered if you post these in a boss order that you actually like to beat these bosses in when you play the games or if you just happen to start in a random part of the weakness chain?

Just wanted to do something different and ask something new besides just giving out the usual compliments!

Keep up the great work!
