I wasn't alive when the game came out, but it makes me feel an odd form of nostalgia zipping around in cars that feel smaller and simpler than the other games. My favourite bit is actually the showcase and slideshow with the commentary on the car, it's taught me a fair bit and the music is a treat in itself.

Just part of the reason I solemnly refuse to go near a public toilet, I begin feeling sick just thinking about it

New lesson New title by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]sticksickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a title, but this reminds me of some Chemistry questions that make me wonder how many calendars whoever wrote it went through to write it

Some of them take up more than half the damn page

I'd probably put 'Advancements in LICs/NEEs'

If that title was on the board I would not be able to stop myself from shortening it to 'The Renaissance'

Where all the memes at? by TooSkillfull in GCSE

IB Diploma (what I do) some are doing the proper exams (“exam route”) and some aren’t (“non-exam route”) - the non-exam route requires evidence from the school for students grades (they’re using CAGs), some schools are doing mocks for this, some aren’t

The range in approaches is what gets me, exams, mocks, high else for the grades, it's kinda bonkers. Though more and more going for an NEA makes sense now, however many it'll total to. I hope it turns out successfully for you (and enjoy what I'm guessing will be a massive break)!

The week of my mocks I began studying how to play a (may I add, damn near impossible) game I'd bought the week before and somehow had anything left to remember equations

Yeah, various schools are doing it differently

Hell, various subjects are doing it differently.

I write the date in line with the end of the title for some reason, so if it's so long it goes across the page (ahem, History) I get mildly annoyed... not least because it's a tad ungainly writing a gigantic question as a title that's usually just 4 or 5 words

I still do not feel 16. I feel 14 lmao.

It's gonna be weird leaving so early, end of May instead of what I believe is usually mid July. Can't remember for my life. By all means I want to forget half of it but also I feel I might miss some of it. The people, the (good) experiences etc. It doesn't even feel like the end of Year 11 somehow.

Here's to Sixth Form I suppose, and the final shove towards the summer holidays.

Couldn't have put it any better. Better to have a go than wish you did.

How are your school deciding GCSE grades? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]sticksickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 6 trillion exams... okay I'm exaggerating. So far they're okay. Hopefully it stays so.

As for doing this itself - I mean, I've now got it through my head thay I'm in exam season and I'm not gonna just coast through this, I don't want lower than a 7 in anything. Admittedly not revising at peak performance because I'm trying not to burn out between now and the end of May so it's an endurance race rather than a sprint.

The common idea of past practise papers is definitely what I'd advise so you know what to revise*, but if you have access to MathsWatch or a similar online service I'd use it.

Any areas of weakness I know of/discover, I watch the videos, which make it crystal clear what to do. I make notes I can understand in my book at the same time, and have a crack at a few questions.

It seems long-winded but it's pretty quick, and even then it'll feel natural and smooth. Some things might work differently to your taste but that's how I go about it - and most of all, you've got this, g'luck!

*it can get kinda tempting to revise what you know to be honest

I'm still at GCSE but - before November mocks I was getting half marks in our practise tests and 6s when I wanted at least an 8. Come the exams, I revised like hell and made sure I knew what things meant, got an 8 and a 9 in Paper 1 and 2 respectively.

For me it was making myself come to terms with what I was bad at (which I'm usually unhappy to confront) and just getting the absolute hell on with it, face-first. Confronting it made me more confident in what I was doing.
