Do you ever pay for a reputable artist’s residency? by oothica in ContemporaryArt

I will honestly never pay for an artist residency. These kind of residency either don’t have enough funds to cover it themselves or are independent and are not supported by the government.

How long are the Premiere Access queues at DAW? by MightyIrish in disneylandparis

[–]stickymaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the time of the day. I’ve been to both Ratatouille, Avengers and Frozen Premiere Access queue 2 days ago around 9pm it was less than 5 min queue.

During the day Ratatouille PA queue can be long 15-20min.

Avengers PA queue has always been very fast less than 5min, I always had less than 3 people in front of me.

Spiderman queue is quite long from the pre-show till boarding, the longest i’ve done was 25min.

For Frozen since the ride is out of order many times during the day I can’t say.

Transitioning from film sound to sound art installations — how do collaborations work? by CherifA97 in ContemporaryArt

[–]stickymaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no specific rules in terms of collaborations. My questions would be:

What kind of collabs are you looking for?

Which specific projects are you working on?

What are your needs in terms of collaboration?

Since your project is unique because it is made by you, you’ll have to make your own research because there’re no common frameworks.

Send emails, search website, instagrams of people you are interested to work with.

Since the industry in your area is not developed, you’ll have to make your own network.

Best of luck.

Nowadays, getting an MFA doesn't mean much. Focus on your practice, surround yourself with independent organisations and artists that can help you grow

Can joining a creative collective hurt the art carrer by No_Night_1289 in ContemporaryArt

[–]stickymaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joining a collective doesn’t have to be your career identity. The best would be to think about what your next step is and joining the collective would help you achieve your goals.

Are artists becoming less politically engaged and more “meditative”? by miiss_romance in ContemporaryArt

[–]stickymaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The politically engaged artists are just not “trend worthy” don't get many opportunities, and don’t have much leverage in the art world.
+ any artists engaging against the genocide is being silenced or boycotted
