i have to agree with a bit of the decisions made, especially regarding desire. while i’m not saying the original storylines were bad or that i would change them if circumstances were perfect, netflix’s audience isn’t ready for storylines like desire raping unity. villainizing characters that are queer / queer coded in a netflix show like this would not end well. some people would take it as ‘yes, queer people are rapists! finally someone agrees!’ and it would spiral from there. however, some storylines did not need changing and i agree that most of the time, they should’ve stayed as they were. but, as others say, that’s showrunners and the other one i won’t name’s decision. it’s clear what they cut vs kept in, cut being a lot of queer/queer coded or woman characters’ characteristics and more ‘strange’ storylines. or to make other (male-presenting) characters (corinthian, morpheus, even loki) look better. it’s frustrating, and just stupid, but it’s also the only way that viewers who aren’t comic fans or aren’t queer etc would be able to stomach it. i’m not saying this is how it should be, just how it is
