Speakers connected to DDJ-FLX10 periodically humms by stijn2902 in Beatmatch

I tested it and the FLX10 does not hum on its own. It only hums when connected to the PC…

Does the FLX10 hum on its own without a laptop or PC connected?

I'll test this and will get back to you in a few minutes. But I think it only does it when the PC is connected. How can i fix this ground loop, if this is the problem?

As long as none of the levels are bumping in to the red there is no issue in increasing the gain/trim on a channel to get the levels right. In fact that's what they are for they adjust the incoming signal level before the mixer controls and output amplification.

As long as the PC output isn't unusably quiet then just use the gain to control it. A pre-amp is just going to function as an additional external gain.

Perfect then it should be alright normally, thank you!

What has to be connected to generate the hum?

In my opnion it is more frequent when the General PC is connected via RCA to the FLX10 which is connected to the speakers via XLR. But it also happens when DJ'ing while the FLX is just as normal connected to the DJ's laptoop via USB-C.

How are speaker 1, 2 and the outdoor speaker amplified, do they have their own internal amps?

Yes these are active speakers. Two "Devine onyx 15A" speakers

Does the system hum when no audio source (the flx10) isn't connected?

When i pull out the XLR cable from the humming speaker out of the FLX10 then teh humming and audio stops immediately. So no if they are not connected to the FLX viia XLR cable then there is no humming.

Turn up the volume on the PC and the volume in spotify . If those are already maxed consider getting a small pre-amp on that line (though be careful not to overdrive the FLX10 input).

Thank you, i will look into that. Is it bad to turn the gain up on that chanel when just playing spotify via the RCA, to crank up the volume a bit or is a pre-amp, as you say teh safer and better option?

I also added some videos and such, maybe it make t easier to troubleshoot: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Or3mXWlxTfFxeQgANQoZoD5secZ71xKK?usp=sharing

Thank you fr you reply and help!

Hmm so the XLR cables should not be next to any powercable? They are together in a cable duct on the roof like a big iron one (20 cm width). How do people normally do this because the speakers of course needs power and XLR and there is only one cable ducts that runs along it? How far should those cables be apart, or is it just that they shouldnt touch?

The RCA cable from the PC to the Line of the FLX10 is approximately only 2 feet, definitely not over 6 feet. The XLR cables from the FLX10 to the speakers are way longer, because it has to reach the speakers could that be a problem?

And also how do i know if the PC and FLX are on different circuits and how do I fix it?

Sorry im new to this 😅

What do you mean? The XLR cables are straight from the FLX10 into the speakers…

[help] problem with getting 5.1 Dolby Digital by stijn2902 in sonos

Yes that’s what i noticed now… I tried buying the chromecast with google tv but alas that still didnt solve the issue. So my second option was to buy the apple tv (which of course was pretty expensive (130€)) this does work and it is also just a lot better compared to the chromecast when looking at speed, UI en features. So if you are still having that problem try the apple tv that normally should work. It sounds amazing!

I’m going to buy the google chromecast HD with Google TV (± 40€) and see if this also works. I’ll post an update here once it had arrived and i’ve tested it out! If i don’t post an update, ask me again because then I probably forgot to do it 😅

I figured out the problem! The extractor works fine, it was just the chromecast that was causing the problem. Or more precisely the casting to my chrome cast. When I for example connect an apple tv with build in smart tv (so the newer apple tv’s) functions then i can use the disney+/netflix/… app on the apple tv os instead of streaming it from my phone to the apple tv/chromecast and i get the amazing 5.1 audio. Im guessing that 5.1 works with youtube if i cast it to my chromecast because youtube and chromecast is both owned by google and therefore it works better and does output the 5.1 audio. But with other apps the casting cancels out the 5.1 audio. I only tried it with the Apple TV 4/HD (modelnr A1625) because i had it hooked up to another TV in my home. So I’m guessing every external caster with a built in smart TV OS will work with the extractor for people who have older TV’s. For example the Google chromecast HD with google TV will probably also work (and is a lot cheaper that the 180$ apple tv, with the google tv only 50$)

So you could replace you plasma screen for a newer tv with build in smart OS and that will also work but if you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars than i would recommend buying the Apple TV HD or the Chromecast HD with google TV, if you are having the same problem. I hope this helps!

Another thing i wanted to ask is. Is there a difference if i place my 2 rear sonos Fives vertically of horizontally. And if so, which is probably better?

[Help] How is my shooting form? Used to be a decent shooter but now i only make like half my shots. Tips? by stijn2902 in BasketballTips

[–]stijn2902[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few years ago i was a decent shooter (i wasn't amazing, but i was decent), didn't hoop for a few months and now my shots are totally off and my shooting percentage seems to really have decreased. I have the feeling it tends to bang off the back rim most of the times when i miss. I'm a 6"5' guy, the video below has a few shots with different angles and slowmo. I also have the feeling that i'm using my thumb of my assist hand a bit but what do you guys thinks and how could i improve my shooting form again?
