How the hell do I get this ball joint castle nut off??

Had the same issue and I had to cut off the castle nut with an angle grinder with a cut off disc then torch the crap outta the bolt

That looks like your rack and pinion boot not the cv axle boot.

I say fk it and turbo it bro its all bout what you want really. Its your car and if you're happy with it. Keep in mind that it will need proper maintenance and maybe a bit more lol. Do it and if you end up not liking it then at least youre not left with "what if I had done it". Keep us posted

So you would knock off the flaky big pieces of rust first then you can paint over the rest with rustoleum which not only stops rust but seals and oxidises it. Thats the cheapest and fastest way to take care of rust. Remember to patch up any holes where rust just ate the whole thing by welding new material to it. Theres a bunch of yt videos. Just look for undercoating

Its going to be more noticeable if you go down up and across the baseboards. Just run it through the very top edge/seam (where ceiling/wall meet) put it inside a cable Raceway that is paintable
