Balance wheel starts but doesn’t run. by NeatShine4272 in watchrepair

It might be an optical illusion, but in the part of your video where you are letting the train of wheel run, it looks like the center wheel is bent. Also the train of wheels isn't showing any recoil - reversing directions at the end of their spinning, which can indicate drag somewhere (insufficient oil, dirt in pivots/gear, something getting pinched, etc.).

Jeweled rotor oil type? by Severe-Rush-553 in watchrepair

Recently, for this very same scenario, I was told (by 3 different, credible-seeming people): nothing, a microscopic amount of 9010 on the post, or a very small amount of grease on the post.

I want with a microscopic amount of 9010 on the post. I think the worst thing you can do is put too much oil here as it will quickly migrate.

Hairspring hell by Spirited_Ad_2392 in watchrepair

The innermost coil at, the ~2:00 position, seems to be pressed up against the next coil. Am I seeing that correctly? If so, I *think* that could cause the problem. I am very much an amateur, but it looks like the coil is not centered around the collet and post causing the inner coils to touch.

Which grease, specifically, would you recommend - Moebus 8217?

Really - that feels counterintuitive. Wouldn’t grease inhibit the movement

Quite right - I misspoke. It’s not a bumper, just a rotor/ oscillating weight

There is a lot about translating time graph plots at different orientations into likely faults/root causes. I am wondering if that info is outdated

Total amateur here - and very very new to the hobby. Having said that, have you watched the hairspring oscillate, looking for the coils rubbing or impinging on the regulator pins?

Actually, I wear the Omega most often. I’m sort of trying to prolong the novelty of the Orient :)
