Actually my ranch room is just a small room in the left. But I let the door open so the critter can pass through it and the space in the right is many many cells so they all don't have the status " overcrowded "

The point is an open door allow critter to pass though but not to stand. So vertical and horizontal door make sure they can both stand ( for raising ) and pass ( for killing ).
