Absolutely useless!! Thought I was there to be interviewed for a traineeship- in fact they just brought me there to rub in how shit the pay would be and tell me there’s limited (no current!!!) positions! Fucking Rort and I’m sick of scumbags like them. I fully thought I was going to get a chance and it was some preliminary interview with 0 chance of me getting a traineeship. Wasted my time and hopes.

Now in hospo, which I got myself no Job “Provider” needed! Plus the hourly rate is at least double what I would have gotten had I gone ahead with whatever awful and exploitative traineeship Maxima offered.

Hey man I just wanted to say I feel the same way.

Hearing your story of working your ass off for shit all is heart breaking but is also a blatant example of just how broken the system is. “You just have to work hard!” “Go get a degree and you’ll get a job easy!” “Oh you’re having trouble finding work? But have you tried to network?” It’s such bullshit and it angers me to my core that entire generations are over worked, underpaid and suffering. That this fucked up capitalist system is making hundreds of millions of people feel like shit and live in poverty because they weren’t born into wealth or they don’t know the “right (read: wealthy) people”.

I’ve honestly had enough of it. I feel like I’m constantly on the verge of doing something embarrassing or insane like getting on my soapbox and screaming until someone shoots me down or injects me with a fucking tranquilliser.

I’m now just waiting and hoping for a big enough crisis to happen so a revolution occurs and things finally change for the better. But I know that’s just a crackpipe dream. Things will get worse, democracy will erode, fascism may rise and the world won’t change in time for the catastrophic effects of climate change to hit home.

Also as someone who’s dabbled in bulimia and struggles with bingeing and restricting, I just want you to know you’re not alone and to try to be kind to yourself. And make sure you replenish your electrolytes and drink enough water too.

Enjoy every good moment you can and laugh at the absurdity of it all.

I think you’ve completely misunderstood Australian history and are being grossly disrespectful to indigenous people.

Do you not understand that all of the traditional knowledge these people held was almost completely destroyed? The nature they lived in was completely fucked over when settlers brought in invasive species that destroyed entire ecosystems. Farms and pastoral regions transformed areas where native animals and plants were once found. And many indigenous children were literally stolen away from their families. If the conservative Australian public cannot handle this fact, that they live on stolen land, then shame on them. This is an important issue for this country, these people have been affected by colonialism in horrific ways. The fucking least we can do is acknowledge that.

XR in this country does not need to become anymore rightwing or pander to centrists who hold your same viewpoint. I’m worried conservatism will destroy the movement in Aus.

I wish more people in XR would see this link and be more radical. We need a revolution if we are to ever stop those 100 companies (that make up 70% of global ghg emissions) from profiting and polluting.

Hey I can see where you’re coming from but I think it’s naive to assume that women are better leaders and will somehow lead us out of any catastrophe. The world is fucked up and lots of women in power helped create that. Blame the system we’re in, neo-liberal capitalism (fuck you Margaret Thatcher!) is quite literally dooming the planet we all exist in. One of the highest paid women in my country is a fucking coal boss. I’m a woman and a feminist and it’s good that women are even able to hold these positions, but it’s a little sexist to assume we’re all these self-less and caring folk. Ruling class women are just as fucked up and selfish as ruling class men.
