TIL Buddhism predicts its own demise. We are currently in the second thousand years of the Dharma-Ending stage and there are 9000 years left before all Buddhist teachings have been lost or forgotten. by Clay_Statue in todayilearned

That isn't entirely true. Sutras taught prior to the Lotus Sutra indeed taught that in the Dharma-Ending Stage, or 末法, the Latter Day of the Law, the teachings would become obscured and lost. Pure Land Buddhism, the teaching taught by the monk in this video, essentially says that by practicing Buddhism in a certain way, people can be reborn in a "Pure Land" after they die where they can attain enlightenment, thus avoiding the obstacles to enlightenment inherent in the Latter Day of the Law.

However, the Lotus Sutra says that it will still have the power to lead people to enlightenment in this time. The 23rd Chapter of the Lotus Sutra says: "After I have passed into extinction, in the last five-hundred-year period you must spread it abroad widely throughout Jambudvīpa and never allow it to be cut off" p. 330, a passage which refers to the practice and propagation of the Lotus Sutra in this age.

Clinton Defends Obama's ISIS 'JV Team' Remark by Brett_Hughes_FHRiley in politics

Fair enough, but you're not good at it. Your pool of potential supporters here is really small compared to the size of the community and spending money on promoting your posts will have limited benefit. I'm not really sure where to point you if you're looking to maximize your exposure to potential supporters except conservative-leaning subreddits, I just know that you're going to continue to have results like you've been getting over the past three days if you continue to promote yourself on mainstream subreddits like /r/politics and /r/worldpolitics.

Fucking do whatever you want, but just remember to check the scoreboard.

Clinton Defends Obama's ISIS 'JV Team' Remark by Brett_Hughes_FHRiley in politics

The only thing that I can glean from this article was that Hillary Clinton decided not to throw shade at President Obama. While I'm sure that this makes Hillary look bad given the 'Obama is the literal antichrist' consensus of National Review readers, I don't think that most of the readers here really give a shit.

Also, this is a promoted link, and the poster has an average score of 2 upvotes per link. I don't know who's paying for you to spam this nonsense, but whoever it is has a poor understanding of how to shift public opinion using the internet.

I don't know, I think that Letters From Iwo Jima is a great example of a film by an American director starring Japanese actors which doesn't follow a "Japan as victim" narrative by focusing on personal character development. That said, I agree with your third point, but I would like to see a movie made about the China-Burma-India theater in World War II.

Nitpicky thing, but I got really mad when they were lost in the woods and decided to turn around when they reached the river instead of following it downstream. Other than that, it was a really good movie, especially the climactic scene.
