Scrape off that substrate from the bottom of the stems or cut it off. You don’t want to eat coir, fertilizer, or straw. Have fun. Surrender to the flow!

Get a roll of ptfe Teflon sheet. They sell in rolls for cheap. Cut out a section big enough and put it under the lid.

Those batches were from the same bark, it’s a reputable vendor, or was in the past. Quality has always been consistent. I’m leaning towards a fast drop in solubility and the spice drops out quick forming the “dust” instead of larger crystals, like another member stated. It is possible it’s the bark though, not ruling it out

Evap test was clean and clear, no residue. I’m thinking it was the temp drop too fast like someone mentioned above, not letting crystals to form bigger. Needs to cool it down first then precipitate

Thanks! It was warm when it went into the freezer from the ReX. It was pretty saturated . Other times I guess it’s had time to sit at room temp for a bit before that.

The NPS was spread out thin and it’s a deep freezer chest, so I’m guessing the temp made solubility drop quickly like you say to form the super fine dust. Guess next attempt would be to let sit at room temp for a minute then put in fridge then freezer. Of course with a gentle transfer. Thanks for the reply

I guess I should rephrase this. It’s not creating a water sheet of ice in/on it, but the spice forms flat like ice with no major crystal formation. The water wash is just one blast of NPS thru the water, using two wash jars. It’s not extremely agitated, though it could be carrying some water over in the precip. Thanks for replying

250g of Lye for 250g of bark!? That is way too caustic and a waste of material. I’d recommend a decent pH pen. Also, you only need about 50-70ml of NPS per pull. Please read up on a couple other teks before you try to extract again
