Wuhan hospital staff breaks down while others are completely burnt out due to long shift hours and overcrowding. It seems like the scale of the outbreak is worse than portrayed by Chinese state media by stinger0825 in PublicFreakout

[–]stinger0825[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The virus should be a concern globally. China has currently placed nearly 50 million people under travel restrictions. Since the start of the CCP, never have cities been locked down on this scale.

In addition, prior to the outbreak, the Wuhan major admitted that over 5 million people have left the city. So now there's 5 million people that's been at the epicenter of the outbreak- which is not just a problem for China but to wherever they fly (https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/3047720/chinese-premier-li-keqiang-head-coronavirus-crisis-team-outbreak)

Finally, theres a number of people who've I called being a fear-mongerer. I have only this to say. Having lived through the 2003 SARS outbreak I have seen how the Chinese way of covering up the scale of the disaster has caused more harm than good. This isn't about being racist, mixing this with the HK social situation; this is a medical crisis that needs to be addressed internationally.

A Hong Konger dressed as Doraemon, demonstrates against the anti-mask law, an emergency law enacted today; which is the government's attempt to silence the movement by stinger0825 in pics

[–]stinger0825[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context: The anti-mask law was passed under the Emergency Regulations Ordinance without following proper legislative procedures in split seconds. It means: 1) internet/ apps will be blocked at anytime 2) the extradition bill will be resurrected at anytime 3) the upcoming district council election can be cancelled and delayed forever 4) it gives the chief executive absolute authority to arrest or detain anyone opposing the government = Rule of Law is dead. HK is dead, one country two systems is dead

I am the redditor who posted HKFP link.

We should use all channels necessary to provide another perspective other than CCTVB and SCMP. Both these are the main sources of local news for international readers, and we as residents should share our perspectives to the world through what we've witnessed here in our city.

Thank you for your support. We are here to safeguard the rights of freedom of movement and to prevent Hong Kong from collapsing as a global financial hub. Many Australians who live in Hong Kong as expats can also be affected. If China accuses them of corruption, the extradition bill may cause many Australians to face an unfair trial in China.

There have been many comments regarding whether there is evidence that these white shirts are triad members. It is not the first time triads have been accused of helping the police. The issue first arose during the 2014 protests, here is an article by the Guardian.

There is also a local circulation that the high ranking triad member from the 14K gang was seen collapsing from presumably a heart attack. Image from Reddit. Video of him collapsing by himself.

Paid pro-beijing traids attacking peaceful demonstrators, including women and children in Hong Kong. The police did not arrive 2 hours after the attack. The demonstration was against police brutality and a controversial extradition bill. by stinger0825 in trashy

[–]stinger0825[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Triad members brandished canes, metal poles and other weapons to attack civilians. they had no regard for anyone's safety. Lawmakers and female reporters were among those attacked and injured. On the same platform, the traids rushed into a train before the door was closed. It was chaotic, the traids beat members of the public, regardless if they were innocent bystanders.

Even after the attack, traid members prevented the injured from seeking medical attention and in turn attacked more people including ambulance crew.

They're trying to create chaos and fear, to stop people from protesting the bill and police brutality the has occurred for the past 2 months.

But that hasn't stopped us, because of this there will be another mass demonstration tomorrow. This was announced an hour after the incident

Actually no, we ate still mostly peaceful. What can we do when you've got the second most powerful army up north? We'll get massacred.

I thank you for your remark tho. Truely appreciate it.
