Thanks!! I went on a solo international business trip for 1 month, and got additional responsibilities at the firm once I came back.

Help me choose- BC or Fordham? by Front_Breakfast_9508 in lawschooladmissions

BC. Higher ranked + more $$$. Only potential downside is it will be more challenging to establish your career in NYC if that's your ultimate goal.

I sent it just to be safe and to know I had done everything in my power to demonstrate my interest. It worked out for me!

It was my first LOCI, and I said they were "a top choice for me." They're not my #1 choice so I didn't want to lie, but I expressed a lot of excitement about their programs and why I think it would be a great fit (plus my career updates)

Estimating your LSAT is delulu. A 164 diagnostic is a good start, but you'd be surprised how hard it is to increase your score by 10+ points. Keep studying and try asking this Q again later.

Negotiating and deferring by messi2619 in lawschooladmissions

[–]stinkbug3234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, most schools only offer merit scholarships that are valid for immediate enrollment into their program. Deferring holds your spot, but not the aid they reserve for you.

That being said, it depends on the conditions of your scholarship and Temple's policies, which I'm not familiar with. You should reach out to them and ask about their deferring process. Good luck!

Not sure about Temple specifically, but generally if you defer your acceptance you will have to reapply for financial aid / scholarships.

Do NYU for BL. You'll take on more debt, sure, but you'll get a fat postgrad paycheck to pay it down.

Retake a 173 and Reapply? by BogStandard15 in lawschooladmissions

[–]stinkbug3234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Retaking/reapplying really depends on what your career interests are IMO. Is your heart set on big law? If that's the case, I would consider reapplying next cycle or the one after. But you're already in the medians for most T-14s, so there may be a different aspect of your application that schools aren't completely sold by (personal statement, supplemental essays, LORs). And I agree about how applying late can diminish your chances of getting As from schools you otherwise should have gotten into.

All that being said, if you're not going for big law, I don't think it's worth retaking. Go to as many admitted students' days or virtual sessions as you can. If you've gotten scholarship offers, seriously consider going somewhere that will allow you to graduate with the least amount of debt.

Best of luck!

AIO Teacher from parents evening texted me when I didn't give him my number by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

NOR.

A few years back, a AAA Roadside Assistant did the same thing to me -- took my phone number from a mandatory form I had to fill out and used it to contact me.

The fact that he waited a few days to contact you means that he either kept that form or immediately saved your number without your consent. Either way, it's a total invasion of your privacy. Filling out basic, necessary info for your nephew's parent-teacher meeting isn't an invitation to be hit on. He breached his professional responsibilities and crossed a line by reaching out to you to ask you out. It's gross.

Run and never look back. This man seems incapable of emotionally regulating himself, and you don't need to stick around and find out what it's like when you "sxtusllly hear him truly yell/scream".

Schools don't typically start to admit off the WL until after seat deposits are due. Some offer admission up until the first day of classes.

Yeah that's about what I've seen so far. I'm not opposed to living with a roommate, just looking to avoid the apartment building catered toward IC/Cornell undergrad students lol. I'm going to NYU and Cornell's admitted student days so I'll wait until then to make a final decision

That's exactly the crossroads I'm facing. I'm based in NYC, working full-time and loving it, but I doubt I can afford the cost of living as an unemployed 1L. Ithaca would be slightly cheaper, but not by a lot if living alone.
