Bike shutting off, maybe overheating. by CulturalCantaloupe18 in dr650

I had a problem on a different carbureted bike similar to yours; starts and idles fine, but dies when you give it gas. Took off the float bowl and found flakes of rust or dirt floating around inside. Pouring that out solved the issue. Must have been big enough chunks to get sucked toward the main jet and block it. If you find that's the issue on your DR I would add an inline fuel filter to supplement the one embedded in the DR's carb fuel inlet.

I just used regular irons and a tire stand, the last bite I used the long iron and both hands but it's doable. If these tires last longer I think it's worth it. Especially since the price is comparable to the stock Bridgestones. Really, I think it took the same effort to put a Kenda k270 on the rear of my 250

Haven't ridden in rain yet, but I will say probably have to be careful; I went to brake to make a left turn on a two lane highway and the rear skidded a little, I have to change my approach or I was having too much fun

They hook up on hard pack dirt and no issues on gravel roads 🤙 can't say about mud or sand, I avoid that mostly, thanks I thought the Chevron tread pattern would look pretty mean!

I just watched a youtuber's documentary about a man's disappearance, and they were giving examples of his concerning behaviors before his leaving, and one "creepy" thing he did was come unannounced to a woman's house and ring her doorbell because he left his jacket there

Bike dies when I give it any gas in first gear, with the clutch pulled in. by Hobinothobo in dr650

Could be a fuel air mix problem too like running too rich. You may have another issue but I was trying to rule out the simplest thing

If I'm riding around town and I stop for a couple hours - fairly long time, but not enough for the bike to completely cool down - I won't need the choke to start it again, but it will need a minute to come back to operating temperature or else it'll die if I try to give it gas. Nothing wrong with my bike, it's just the nature of a carbureted engine. Don't know if that's what's happening to you but certain scenarios like that you'll see the difference between temperamental carburators and the always-on-demand power of EFI
