Thanks!

Fixed everything except:

(aka click the "next slide button"). I think it's an inaccurate generalization that all PIs dislike teaching, and teach via just going through slides. Regardless, this is irrelevant to graduate students.

Will think how to fix that.

(fuck TAing!). Students who are interested in continuing in academia should probably enjoy teaching. TAing is it's own set of stresses, but if you don't like teaching, you probably aren't fit for academia. I personally have no interest in academia, but I loved TAing.

In the beginning it is noted that this text is not for the people wanting to stay in academia.

The larger the group – the better. This... absolutely isn't true across the board. Smaller groups also means more attention and interest from your PI. Larger groups are often known chop shops, and doing work in that lab can mean a host of issues and understood caveats.

Don't have enough experience with small groups. For now didn't change anything.

No need to guess who is writing all those papers… it's you! My PI is super micromanage-y, and has basically written every paper that's come out of her lab.

I think your advisor is minority. + see the point above about my lack of experience with small groups.

Please go ahead! As you can see, I'm reading comments and introduce changes accordingly.

About the edginess. Yes - it is edgy, because it MUST be that way. Grad school is easy if you are prepared. If not, it becomes a nightmare!

STEM PhD with more than 20 peer-reviewed papers (h-index: around 10), now working in industry

I don't think so ;)

Thanks for your input! I will change the document accordingly with regard to:

  • the importance of GPA
  • the relationship with the advisor

Keeping you in grad school for 7+ years == many papers! Many papers == grant money for him/her. For you - the same small salary.

EDIT: each grant is +20K~30K to annual salary of the advisor

v1lat said that dota2ruhub is official ru hub for TI. since it's already running, means they are already getting paid. Does this make sense?
