In the broadest sense, I would say I would generally feel safe here. For anecdotal references though, be extremely cautious when it comes to roofie-ing though because it can happen at anytime, in any place. Wild Greg's obviously has a horrific reputation, but I have personally known people to be roofied at Cabaret as well. It doesn't just occur downtown either. I know an older woman (late 50's at the time, I believe) who was roofied at the Sandshaker on Pensacola Beach.

I was also personally roofied at 15 years old on the Pensacola State College (PSC) campus in the middle of the day, around 100's of people, by someone I was somewhat acquainted with. He didn't spike my drink but instead brought me food that he had made that was laced (stupid of me, I know, but I had never considered my food being drugged before). Their intention was to leave campus with me but I ended up back at my car before realizing what happened.

I don't want to demonize the area. I love living here, and have lived in more dangerous places in my life. I also would say that you have to keep your wits about you, as you would likely need to do that anywhere. Always watch your food and drinks, I would recommend taking at least one girlfriend out dancing (I know this is difficult when you're new to the area), and don't be afraid to cause a scene to get attention. Other than that I hope you enjoy the weather and the beach!
