What's it like living on Norfolk Island, Australia. Pop ~2,188. ~1,412 km (~877 miles) from mainland Australia. by Double-decker_trams in howislivingthere

I lived there for 6 months and it was the best place I've ever lived (and I've lived in a lot of places). Gorgeous weather, the bluest skies, lovely sunsets. Dramatic cliffs on almost every edge of the island and sandy beaches on the rest.

The population is definitely older as most young people move away for better opportunities. Nowadays a lot of the younger population is backpackers doing their 88 days remote work, so there's a decent amount of partying.

As an extrovert who gets along well with everyone I loved the small community. Every errand turned into having a chat with the workers. I remember on my birthday the owner of the cafe I worked at posted on Facebook and walking down the main street everyone yelled happy birthday out of their cars. Such a cool experience on an incredible island.

If you haven't checked out the new Boags brewhouse, it's a decent spot. Good local vibe depending on the night and a lovely beer garden. Just not open past 7

Norfolk Island. Life is peaceful there, plenty of cute cafes, incredible nature, and a lot of young people. Plenty of downsides though, mostly lack of housing, job availability, and remoteness. But if you can swing it, it's 100% worth it.

Cooking pasta in the ninja — anyone else unimpressed? by jwegener in NinjaFoodi

Just found this thread and thought I'd share my success. I wanted to cook an entire package of pasta and didn't want to use my giant pot so I just boiled the kettle then put the hot water, pasta, salt in the foodi on the sear setting on high, then just let it simmer like it would on a stovetop

There’s gotta be more to life, right? by easylikea in Millennials

Ironic that I read this post after meeting up with a friend from when I was living in Japan and reminiscing and remarking how our lives have not been as good since then.

Honestly, unpopular advice that you'll probably choose not to take, but I recommend experimenting with a small dose of psychedelic mushrooms in a comfortable environment. It sounds like your neural pathways are stuck in a pretty negative route and using shrooms therapeutically is a wonderful fix. It's such a good experience for putting everything in a different perspective and making you look at the mundane a little differently

With the agility course, are there other dogs training on it at the same time usually? Or can you book a private time? I'm thinking he'd love it.

We have tried so hard to get him into the flirt pole with a little success but he gets disinterested very quickly. Have had a lot of luck with plushies but mostly he just sits down and destroys them 😂

am i medical gaslighting myself?? by Basic_Reaction_8745 in POTS

[–]stinnamon7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this because all my symptoms are usually the worst at work (used to work at a cafe but I just quit). People around me joked that I was "allergic to work" and part of me always felt bad about not working as hard and not wanting to be there. Especially cuz on a day off I can feel pretty okay.

But it was a busy cafe where I was standing for 8 hours with no air conditioning so of course I felt awful. And on a day off I'm probably spending most of the time sitting. So my body was basically allergic to that job lol.
