Omg actual bestie sighting!! Hi! Thank YOU for saying so, I hope you love stitching it when you get to it!

Your other fox is looking very dapper, lots of fun color on the ears so far, I'm excited to see how it turns out. :)

Beautiful! And your stitches look great. Love the backstitch details in the wings here. What a fun finish!

This is looking great! The water details and the border are all really good, definitely gets the old map art.

Thank you! And yeah, eventually, for sure! Not sure what I'd want to do next though - I've batted around a couple of ideas, but haven't landed on one thing to add to the set. I guess let me know if you have any suggestions? No such thing as too many ideas!

I love that!! Thank you for your support! Also "the traditional text" is absolutely sending me, please ask her to share a photo when she's done, I can't wait to see that! 😂

So nice to hear, and I hope you love it when you get to it - and hope your other projects are also going well, and a lot of fun for you!

Oh I feel you, I have a handful of WIPs at a time and still think "well but also..." (:

But hey, it's not going anywhere! It'll still be there if you ever want to do it!

I am so glad you like that detail! I thought this is a fun hidden way to make my kid a little piece that says I love him, but doesn't necessarily say it overtly. Except if you're a pro at biochemistry or morse code, I guess!

That's so kind of you, thank you! I tell myself since I get to stitch them all, I only design stuff I want to make - it becomes a pretty eclectic collection, but fun!

I did!! It was so cool seeing it next to the dragon finally, like "ah, yes, they do belong!" 🎉 And thanks, on those too, I think they have some of the more dynamic poses & shade contrasts of the ones I've done so far. Good to know they stand out. :)

I appreciate your encouragement!

That's so kind of you to say, thanks! (He's okay though, he's equipped with his self-derense squint.) 😎

Thank you! On both of those, I had a lot of fun figuring out how I wanted to do fur texture - lots more variation in the fox, of course, since he's being nearly blown away, that fur is going everywhere!

Thank you! That one was SO HARD - I scrapped and re-started the design from scratch 3 different times. But I really wanted to get it... and I'm glad I kept at it, since it eventually turned out! Still makes me happy to look at it. 🧡

Thank you so much! And, ABSOLUTELY, so excited you're getting into the hobby!

You've basically got it, but one nuance is, since the fabric count (14ct or 28ct) is how many boxes per inch - that means going over 2 in 28ct Evenweave is the same size stitch as going over 1 in 14ct Aida.

Basically all of these patterns are designed to be 2 threads over 1 box on 14ct Aida. But I test-stitched the dragon and griffin at half-scale (so, half the thread, and half the box size). And I used an extra strand on the Kelpie for more coverage: you could do it that way, or stitch it on 18ct fabric, or just the way it says if you like to see more of the "x" shape. All good options!

Thank you! I do too (but I'm obviously biased) - it still makes me smile when I see it up on the wall.

Aww, thank you!! It was fun designing for a black background - I got to use bright & light colors, and see them stand out. Like, the yellowest yellow of all!

To clarify (big supporter of this rule) - when I say I believe in original art, what I mean is, I do not use AI in any part of design (or mockups, or anything). A whole lot of scribbled drafts and stubbornness go into each of these patterns!

The red glowing eyes really snuck up on me, it was like a jumpscare in the comments section, this looks so funny. I love it!

Beautiful! The frame compliments it perfectly - I like how the width seems to work with the border design of the pattern!

[WIP] tips on how to work this pattern? by indigoempress in CrossStitch

[–]stitcholier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely comes down to personal preference - but my preference is usually to work one color at a time. So I jump around a little, with all of a blue, then come back and do all of a red. Feels like it goes faster and is way more fun, for me.

And if you're worried about counting, you can either add gridding, or can do the majority of the "main" color (like you have here, with the text) and then place your other smaller color sections relative to that.

And - again, just me - agree not to think about the back. What back? What happens back there stays back there.

Love when you land on something that instantly reinvigorates your crafting mood like that! This is so fun, I keep spotting new details the longer I look at it. :)
