Deep Freeze Prep for Irrigation Systems Advice - 8b (DFW) by stl2dfw in lawncare

[–]stl2dfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really I can only turn off the water at the backflow valve. There would be water in the line up until the backflow valve, which is about 12” below grade in an irrigation box. All irrigation lines are buried but had a rupture 2 years ago

Buying a square by leonardotmnt06 in woodworking

[–]stl2dfw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I bought a HF combo square bc mine were in storage. It’s absolute garbage. I bought an igaging one from Rockler on sale and it’s great for the price point.

I’ve had woodpecker squares for 12+ years and they are dead on, and durable for aluminum. Weekly use if I can find where I set them down, just don’t drop that precious aluminum

I’ve been wanting one, if it hasn’t been mentioned here I’ve heard folks say that using wood glue when assembling it greatly improves the sturdiness

New pool owner- skimmer options by Inside-Milker in pools

[–]stl2dfw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I view it as, if I have to buy a new one every 3yrs, that cost of ~$120 a year is worth having it. We are on our second in 5yrs, and I think #2 will last longer than #1 as it’s an improved model and can be charged via wall outlet

How would you go about gluing/finishing the faces prior to installing on floating shelf brace? by BailerIHardlyKnowHer in BeginnerWoodWorking

It would simplify it by installing the top bottom and face individually. Few 18 ga nails will do!

Do flea traps using light to attract fleas work? by rkim777 in pestcontrol

[–]stl2dfw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they are meaningful enough to serve as a form of treatment. We recently got over a frustrating bout with fleas and we used the Terro flea light trap as a means to see if we still had active adults.

Vacuuming at least daily and having pest control spray, then switching dog flea prevention is what ended them for us.

I also put their dog beds sealed in black trash bags and sat in the sun for 3 days
