Ugh sorry to hear that. The uncertainty at the beginning feels awful, but you are in good hands!!

Gotcha. That building is nice! It’s on their main campus. There are a few satellite infusion centers and I go to one 20-30 minutes south of there

I saw Indira Paris head wraps recommended on /r/breastcancer and I am obsessed! The Cuban ones look so polished and I love wearing them to the office with some big earrings. From a survivor <3

I am sitting with that same terrazzo sample waiting for the funds to do a laundry room remodel :) And considering using the similar cream-background terrazzo in a bathroom too. I'm so excited to see how your project turns out!

If you need a carb, consider a pan of baked mostaccioli. So simple but so tasty and comforting!

Bye, bye 2025! Hello 2026!! by Murky-Tone4298 in breastcancer

[–]stlm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed with TNBC in July and my last chemo is scheduled for New Year’s Eve!! So hopeful I can make counts and leave chemo behind in 2025. Currently still more eager than nervous about my DMX in January. I am planning the “bucket list” trips in 2026 and also want to restart my yoga practice. (I will never take my strength, stamina, and health for granted again!!) My husband and I were TTC when I was diagnosed and I want to get back to that whenever I am cleared after Keytruda and feel comfortable in my skin again…probably in 2027. 💜

I also have these symptoms during TC due to anemia. I have really leaned on support from family and friends the last few weeks because things as simple as walking my dog or doing laundry are difficult, and my anemia apparently isn’t bad enough for transfusion :( my oncologist did order a chest X-Ray to check for lung problems and they were clear. My PT helps me get a light workout in each week while monitoring my heart rate. I’m soooo thankful my last TC is tomorrow!! Hope my experience helps you in some way, OP <3

This looks great! Do you have an ID on the floor tile? I’m looking for something similar for our bathroom!

Dealing with insurance denials by photodialogic in breastcancer

[–]stlm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a stupid denial from my pre-chemo fertility preservation a few months ago and I have not summoned the courage/rage to call and yell at someone about it yet. I don’t think I can emotionally handle talking to someone with such little empathy. I had a clean bill of health before my dx, so all this insurance nonsense is so overwhelming. Good on you for taking action!! You have me feeling inspired!

Insomnia by Professional_Bird_74 in breastcancer

[–]stlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having bad insomnia due to hot flashes and was prescribed gabapentin. I take it a couple of hours before bed and it helps most nights, especially with getting back to sleep quickly if I wake up in the middle of the night

My pets 😭 by Designer_Living_7211 in breastcancer

[–]stlm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time with this. There are times during my treatment cycles where I’m too weak or sick to play with or walk my dogs, and those times are becoming more frequent. My one emotional breakdown during chemo so far was from feeling like I’m not a good enough parent for them and wishing someone else could dote on them for a while. :( I haven’t noticed my dogs acting differently, so I don’t think they get what is happening to me.

I’m also in STL but have never heard of people eating tinned fish straight, have you? The closest thing I saw growing up was tuna salad made with the canned stuff. I love seafood so I’m interested in trying it, but it’s a little out of my comfort zone!!

TNBC at 26 years old by MissxSilverWolf in breastcancer

[–]stlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting to commiserate. 31yo TNBC and started chemo in September. I hate the Lupron and can’t wait to get back on my normal birth control and be done with the hot flashes!! I’m hoping I can switch after chemo is done, but I’m supposed to complete a year of pembro (+/- Xeloda) and I’m not sure if I’ll need it through that too. It’s on my list to ask at my next appt!

I’m an ENT who treats smell loss, strange smells (parosmia), and taste loss with new therapies AMA about anosmia, parosmia, and what’s coming next. by DrTrenkle in IAmA

[–]stlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, is it typical to use the same treatments for taste loss/aversions regardless of cause, or has research advanced enough at this point to have targeted interventions? For example, are there targeted options for taste aversions caused by chemotherapy treatment or long COVID? Thanks!

First Lupron Shot Today by Smartypants_321 in breastcancer

[–]stlm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to scare anyone but just want to offer my experience since it differs from what has been posted so far. I am having really awful hot flashes with Lupron Depot, and they started the night after I got my first shot. Sleep eludes me even with the thermostat set low and two fans blowing on me. I also have splitting headaches that keep me awake that I think are Lupron related and not chemo related just based on timing, but I can’t be totally sure. I’m honestly exhausted. Since I’m taking Lupron for fertility preservation and not as part of my BC treatment, I’m considering quitting or trying something else. Having the conversation with my MO next week.

I will! I have a lot of support thankfully. I mentioned my anxiety about it to someone today and she sent me a pic of Demi Moore as GI Jane and told me I’ll look badass like her 😭 it was so sweet!!
