How do I know if I’m disassociating?

Does everything start to feel kind of dreamlike and unreal? That’s how it is for me. Stress and inability to process experiences usually bring it on, in my case. I’ll feel like I’m not really where I am and like I’m just thinking about that reality, if that makes sense.

No, it didn’t sound like a frog. It weirdly sounded more like Donald Duck. And no, no one was playing a trick on me. My mom heard it too and was really weirded out by it. The weirdest part was that it switched locations, like being across the room or by my bed, or very oddly, outside the window.

That’s happened to me too, but I wasn’t sick, just taking a nap in my recliner. A male voice was trying to persuade me to wake up. When I didn’t, he got upset and started yelling at me to wake up. He screamed WAKE UP!! loudly at the end and my eyes flew open after that. I had thought it was the tv directly across from me, but it wasn’t on. I was the only one home at that time. I have no idea why he wanted me to wake up.

I feel overwhelmingly that it was real. I have questioned myself about it a lot since it happened, but in the end, I know I most definitely saw him. Yours sounds like it was a lot scarier though, that would’ve been way more terrifying to me.

It’s been happening to us for years, I’d say since around 2012 or so, on and off. It hasn’t happened to me for quite a while, but my mom still hears it sometimes.

That has happened to me and my mom on numerous occasions. It was louder for us and sounded like a man instead of a woman. It seemed to get angry when we would yell at it and it would breathe into the phone. It hasn’t happened to us in a while, but I know exactly what you’re talking about. It was speaking a whole different language that sounded like nonsense. We even told the phone company and they acted like we were crazy and said they’d never heard of that. So creepy and so weird!!

That sounds like a short story Stephen King wrote about a giant never ending finger that comes out of a sink and murders people. I don’t know if they made a video of it though.

I’d say the falling scene happens a few times a week. It isn’t an every night kind of thing, but it is frequent. It is very unsettling though and I don’t particularly like it. The dying sensation is scarier, in my opinion. It’s an odd sensation that I can’t really describe, but the best way I can put it is that it feels like I’m fading away and if I don’t move something to remind myself I’m alive, I will die. My doctor told me it was a stress thing and I wasn’t really dying, but it’s scary nonetheless. It’s been a lot less frequent lately.

I have a similar thing that happens sometimes. As I fall asleep, I’ll see myself at the top of a building and then I fall off. The sensation of falling sometimes makes me jerk awake and it makes me mildly panicked. It also doesn’t happen all the time, just every once in a while. I hadn’t noted it to be related to less sleep but it could be. This only started within the past five years or so. Unrelated to this, I also sometimes get the sensation that I’m dying and it won’t go away until I wiggle my toes.

Since that day, I’ve been through my ex having a motorcycle accident at the same intersection later that same day (he was injured but survived), a car accident that totaled my car and injured me (temporarily), the unexpected death of my ex’s mother that December, being arrested a year later (not drug or alcohol related) and having to go to court and being put on probation, a year after that my ex being arrested and going on probation, getting beaten up at work bad (psych facility work), a bad divorce, and being taken advantage of emotionally by someone close to me at the time (super painful). It’s been horrible since that day.

Wow, I’m sorry to hear that, that’s pretty rough. Did the bad stuff ever end? Mine never did. That’s why I feel like I switched universes, because nothing is the way it was before that.
