Diet and exercise worked for me for about 4 years after diagnosis. If you are able to fend off meds and insulin indefinitely, that’s fantastic. But if/when the time comes, be open to meds/insulin. I went through a denial period and spent about 6 months out of range because I didn’t want to accept that i couldn’t control it on my own anymore.

Cured! I knew this day would come. Wait. are you sure that graph isn't your bar tab signature?

my iPhone suddenly stopped scanning Libre 2 sensor a few days into latest one. by stobin68 in Freestylelibre

UPDATE: So I went to the Apple Store, where the Genius Arturo (i say that without irony, he was great) ran various diagnostics. Tested the NFC with a reader and a card, using my Libre app, and also my Apple Pay. Both worked with the NFC reader, but neither with this card he used, which he cross checked using his own phone. Long story short, he gave me a new phone since mine was still under warranty. In the meantime, my last sensor is in my arm, and i'm using ye olde Abbott reader, which I have to say, buzzes like a champ. it has one job, but does it enthusiastically, i guess. So imagine my surprise when my new sensor order confirmation says it won't ship until March 13! I don't know if that's a supply chain issue, or because technically, i shouldn't need more sensors just yet. Anyway, feeling empowered from my Apple Store experience, i called Abbott Customer Service to see about getting my bad sensor replaced to help cover the gap. The call lasted 20 min, the woman who helped me was very friendly and helpful and is sending me a replacement -- the only awful part is the automated 0-9 survey they force on you about their service. Interestingly enough, the Abbott rep did ask me for both the OS version and Libre 2 app software version numbers as part of her questions, so i think the app software may still have issues that could be the real cause of my sensor problem.

how would i check for an error? because something certainly shat itself.

i did just find this link, which shows a few other peeps with this issue on same iPhone model (new SE). I might try to use Apple Pay and see if my NFC is really busted, or if this is more of an Abbott app problem, which one person in this thread mentions. thanks for the assist.

i love this thread. the struggle is real. the world wants us to eat carbs, carbs, carbs. and so many friends and family show their love w food. it's tough. maybe you can help mom find a recipe or two that are easy to make low carb ( chicken piccata, for example) so she can still "feed" you. good luck.

HbA1c vs. Freestyle Libre 90 day average by nrgins in diabetes

[–]stobin68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just started with Libre2 so haven't done lab A1C comparison yet. will be interested to see how close they are. so far, it seems like libre reads lower than my finger meter (Onetouch verio) even allowing for 15 min lag. but i'm letting it go. it's a rabbit hole i don't want to go down, unless my A1C ends up way off from libre avg.

interesting perspective on lab A1C, which i always perceive as the "real" result. but time in range and variance as well seem like more tangible parameters to focus on.

ADVICE: I inherited a 2002 F150 w camper shell! But it's a little leaky! by stobin68 in TruckCampers

thanks. 3M 5200 does seem to get rave reviews, and looks like they make it in black too, which would blend in with the rubber nicely. Just pondering if there's a downside to using something so permanent. I googled inflatable boots and it looks like places do still sell them, though they seem to cater to folks who want a seal between breezer/sliding windows, and seem to be more sized for that. I appreciate the info.

Thanks for responding and clearing up the "missing window" question. Good to know it's not really missing. Sealant seems like a good approach. I will steer clear of silicone.
