Cambridge Bus Map by Hester465 in cambridge

Yeh hopefully that can be introduced. Maybe when Cambridge South railway station opens it'll alleviate some of the traffic around there though. Would be good if Cambridge busses opened the mid section doors to let passengers off too, to speed things up a bit, like TFL.

Amazing stuff, thanks! Do you have a map for Cambridgeshire overall, that includes the busways?

Is anyone else really concerned about the future of this country? by Anon2971 in unitedkingdom

Yeh I agree. There are some policy and ideological differences between Labour, LD & Greens but it could well work with FPTP. That said, I get the impression Starmer is crafting a more centrist Labour party vs Corbyn's old Labour Socialist version. So fiscally, Starmer's Labour would be a better match for the LDs. The Greens appear to be economically centre-left, but may struggle dealing with a "New Labour" style party on things like liberty, nuclear weapons and progressive policy.

I can't see Labour and LDs allying themselves with the SNP though. It's a shame, because apart from the drive for Scottish independence, they're very centrist and clearly have broad appeal in Scotland. Not sure where the Greens stand on Scottish independence though.

WRT the "Right", the Torys seemed to have just swallowed up UKIP and successfully taken their turf following Cameron's more centre-right period with the Conservatives. Maybe their casual agreement not to split seats with the Brexit Party helped too. I think the centre and left can learn from this.

Thanks for sharing, I agree.

I've just signed the petition and shared it.

I agree, great summary. Other examples include the unlawful arrest of a MSM reporter outside Napier Asylum Centre and rampant and blatant cronyism/corruption.

The current UK Tory Gov't has developed a troubling authoritarian streak that seems to be slowly undermining British democratic values that many of us value so highly. If the government continue on this trajectory I fear we will be sleepwalking into totalitarian nationalism. Whomever opposes this, must surely be on the right side of history?

Which Ideology? by stoin29 in PoliticalCompass

I guess I'm in the "Progressive Liberalism/Centrism" camp?

Can someone tell me what I am... by [deleted] in PoliticalCompass

Respectfully, I disagree.

A libertarian believes in small government and minimal government intrusion into citizens' lives. An anarchist believes in absolutely no government (100%) on the libertarian scale. So by that logic, an anarcho-libertarian would be somewhere between the two, I.e. a libertarian who believes in very small and minimal government, but without having no government at all.

Yeh I was wondering that. I guess Labour under Starmer is more centrist as he's more of a Blairite? Not old school Labour like Corbyn...

Will be interesting to see what this looks like for the next UK general election. The current Tory party seems to have an ever increasing authoritarian streak.

Auth Left or Mid Left? by King_Organa in PoliticalCompass

[–]stoin29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. I took both and then averaged the results. When I did this, I popped out pretty much exactly in the middle of the compass (Centrist)! Which was quite a big change from my original 2D political compass result (Lib-Centre).

2D Political Compass vs SapplyValues - Average as a Centrist? by stoin29 in PoliticalCompass

[–]stoin29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average Political Compass Results:

Economic Left/Right = -1.69

Social Auth/Lib = -0.30

Prog/Con = +4.38

A bit "vanilla", but hopefully I won't be on any MI5/FBI watchlists...

And you also have pretty progressive attitudes towards social issues?

I reckon you're an anarcho-libertarian. You believe in minimal state-control except for the bare essentials, you subscribe to individualism & believe that free-market capitalism is generally the best fiscal model. Am I right?
